What do you think is better? Telling your readers and subscribers "Buy this affiliate product now, and I will be sending you a bonus product for free as well when it is completed, so probably in a week or a few weeks" or Waiting until you complete the bonus product before you tell your subscribers to buy the affiliate product, and sending it straight away with the affiliate product they buy. What do you think? |

Hey Roxyruby, I would definitely finish the product first before offering it to people! I'd be concerned about things like: What if you don't have time to finish it? What if turns out badly and you need more time to improve it? How can you adequately describe it to buyers if it's not yet finished? You can always stagger the bonus product by a week or so, giving them time to digest the paid-for product and appear again on their radar later. But this is a separate decision. I definitely think you should finish the thing first |

ok thank you I was just at a workshop, and one successful guy pre-sold a product that he hadn't even made yet, and actually suggested this as a good idea. All the money motivated him to get it done fast. I think a couple of the people there preached this actually. |

I agree with Rebecca for the most part. But of course it depends on what you sell. If you're pretty sure the product will be finished on time, there's no harm in announcing it. Or (for eBooks e.g.) send out rough drafts for review, or completed chapters. But be careful with promising a deadline if you can't be sure you'll meet it. 'A few weeks' is too vague for me. For some products it may work to pre-sell and then make it. Say 100 pre-buyers of your next eBook. If you have a great reputation already that may work. |

One consideration is whether you've done it before. I know what it takes to create an e-book, so I could presell one without worrying too much. If this is your first one, maybe you should finish it completely. If you want to build anticipation you could "presell" it once it's already complete. Meaning complete it, sell it on a delayed timeline as though it's not complete, then release it a week or two later. |
