Hi all, I've had my site up and running for over a month now, and it's been a fairly successful month, but I'm a little concerned about my bounce rate. The bounce rate currently is in the upper 50s or lower 60s percentile. I'm interested in -people giving my site a quick glance and letting me know what your first impression is. The link is in my signature. -people stating approximately what their bounce rate is, if they don't mind sharing, or what they think a reasonably low bounce rate would be. I have little experience when it comes tow ha constitutes a good or bad bounce rate. Thanks. |

Try putting a line "New to this site? Then start here" above the article, putting a popular/favorite/recent articles (your pick) on the right column in place of the picture, try making the call to action buttons different colors so that they stand out more (your entire site is green!), and get rid of the twitter icon if it's not that helpful for you-it might be more important for people to see your recent articles, so try moving your twitter icon lower on the page.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I will look into adding some colors, and I will eventually be adding a better header instead of a default one like I have now. I've been wanting to add a message at the top of my posts that directs them to "start here" but I'm not sure how to do that yet. I'll still looking into it. In the meantime, I have noticed that my "start here" page does actually get a lot of clicks, so it's doing its job. I'll probably be changing the button colors. I'm thinking maybe green and orange for my site theme colors, or maybe green and silver/gray. |

I want my site to be serious, but a bit relaxed. It's not about constantly checking stocks, worrying about what the Euro is doing, or worrying about what commodity prices are going to do in the next two months. It's about long-term investing, which although is serious, is meant to be directed towards both the experienced investor and people that are new to investing, so I'm going for a minimalist/simplistic look, but credible. I mean, one of the most popular investing sites out there is Fool.com: Stock Investing Advice | Stock Research which has a humorous tone. I don't want it to look like cnnmoney.

I wouldn't worry too much about the Bounce rate, I have some sites with bounce rate less than 10%, and on the other hand with almost 80%, I agree with Satvik and Brutha, about what they say, And also if you can, Ask yourself where do you want people start in your website and when to finish, Focus your work upon that, and make the changes, |

The bounce rate depends on many factors like how people find your site or how you market/advertise it as well as the actual content. Also you have the word "monk" in your site name. Monks and Stock Analysis are about as far apart as you can get |
