Default Million Dollar

hi folks,

Does anyone achieve this ammount of money in a certain time of his life?
or maybe close to it?

I'll be gratefull for hear some insights about it,
I will also love to hear from those who didn't, how they see that,
becuase most of the time I hear prople saying something like
"I wish I had million dollar..." or "if I had one million dollar I would....",
And to be frankly, I trully believe we can achieve that,
that's why I would like to hear some folks who know a thing or two about it,
or others who also think it is possible,

I bought twenty acres of agricultural land when I was fourteen from money I had saved and a small inheritance from my maternal grandmother. I saved all of the income from the farm land. When I was eighteen I purchased eighty nine acres of farmland adjoining the previous purchase. I paid the bills and kept the rest of the income and continued purchasing farmland in the area.

I've had many other careers but continued to purchase farm real estate. One of my farms was leased to an oil company and I owned the mineral rights which meant I received the income of one barrels of oil for every eight barrels produced. My farm eventually had 34 producing oil wells pumping at the same time. My best well produced over 1000 barrels per day and the well that produced the least amount of oil made 38 barrels per day.

I purchased more farm real estate. I had some fun with money and I went adventuring. If you read other posts by me on this board you will know other parts of my life story. This is just a snapshot of one area of my financial life. My financial statement would indicate a net worth in excess of four times the figure which is the title of your post.

This financial statement is for the farm real estate and related income. I have other streams of income.

I was a child of farming parents in a farming community and the only security such families had was ownership of farms with no debt. This was the dream of my father, grandfather and probably several generations before them.

I enjoyed buying the land but enjoyed actually farming the land less. I currently rent the land to friends who are excellent farmers and people I trust.

Gene, that's a wonderful story. Congrats on achieving everything you've achieved in life!
I am far from being a millionaire myself, maybe if I kept being an employee all my life I would have a million dollars in assets and savings by the time I retire, that's a big maybe, but it's doable. But see, I have a dream () and it's about making a difference, replacing work with fun, doing something I'm passionate about every single day, not just something that brings in money. And if I'll achieve that, and in the process make enough money to live good, I really don't care about retiring with millions of dollars in my bank account.
I remember I read a story about a college kid who made a web page and sold every pixel there for a dollar, for ads. He made one million dollars from that, so yes, making a million dollars is doable and sometimes easy (if you have the right idea at the right time).

I would add that money can be nice but the real treasures of life are family, friends, people to love and be loved by and a host of other things other than money. I know truly rich people who are miserable because for them it is all about the money and nothing else exists in their life but money, houses and other trappings of wealth.

I would rather have love, honor, integrity family and friends in my life than money if I could make a simple choice in the matter. I can and do make that choice!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New year to you and all the many members of this forum. May your lives be better than you ever imagined it could be.

You're right, Gene, the real treasure is love, I would rather have a happy, healthy family than millions of dollars. Money can help a lot, that's true, as long as you don't let it become an obsession of sorts. I guess you're a rich man in every sense of the word, I like what you've said about your family and friends!

Merry Christmas to you too and to all the wonderful people here!

thanks a lot Gene & LV!
Very inspiring story Gene,
As I see it,
There isn't any "more important" treasure,
money is important as family as friends as love as fill the blank,

No one wants to be without love the same as without money,
I see our develoment in all areas,
We can be more loving, more generous and with more money,
yes, maybe it doesn't so importnat if it's million, 10 million or 10K,
what's mportant probably is the mindset itself,

again, thanks for sharing,

It sounds to me like those people you hear saying such things are using the million dollars as an excuse. Most things people want don't cost anywhere near a million dollars. Travel? Nope. Freedom? Nope. Loving relationships? Nope. I don't think a million dollars is nearly as important as figuring out the 'what you would do with a million dollars' part and achieving that instead. It probably won't actually take one million dollars to achieve those goals behind the money.

Personally I don't care rather I have a million dollars or 1 penny in the bank. I want financial security, but a million dollars doesn't guarantee that. I want to travel, but a million dollars doesn't guarantee that either. There's all sorts of things out there that you could get for a million dollars, but a million dollars is also only one way to achieve those goals.

If you really do want a million dollars, there are a million ways to make a million dollars, and there are millions of people who have made a million dollars. it is certainly possible for you too, if that is indeed your goal.
