In Steve's article about how to make money from your blog he refers to Adsense as his number 1 money maker. That was back in 2006. Now his site doesn't appear to be using Adsense at all, so he must be making more money with affiliate programs and products. But why not do both? Has he written anything about this transition? At what point did it make sense to remove the Adsense ads? Why would he do that? Did it add credibility to the other things he's trying to sell? Any thoughts? |

He did give his reasons. I'd prefer to see ad sense back again. At least then you know you're being sold something. I can't help thinking that product recommendations come with a conflict of interests. Even if the product is outstanding, it must be a hard balancing act. Do products that may help us get recommended if they don't bring in income for Steve? None of my business really, just thnking...

Well I didn't talk with Steve about that but usual example from real world is : when you start website you use Adsense and watch how it is going depending on traffic numbers. After reaching very huge traffic like Steve has you should test are you doing better with or without Adsense. Since he have other ways to get income and Adsense is lowering their conversion rates it is smart decision to remove it. After all, competition in this niche is very harsh so it is better to avoid sending people to them through ads, isn't it?

Additionally focusing on whether there are products that Steve doesn't recommend that have value instead of focusing on whether the products he does recommend have value is a sign of a scarcity mindset. It a much better question to ask whether the products that he does recommend have value or whether they haven't. | |

Here's the blog post where he explains the adsense drop. Dropping Adsense – Saying Goodbye to $100K Per Year in Easy Income Basically, he dropped adsense because he didn't need that money anymore and the ads it showed were mostly did not meet Steve's standards for products he is willing to recommend to his readers. I fully support this decision. I think it's awesome that Steve lives as he teaches. That he constantly strives to find new ways to improve his life and business for the good of all. |

I started using adsense again on my websites. I haven't made any money at all with anything else on my sites so I decided to go with what is slightly working for the time being. I would like to not have so many adsense ads, or at least make some decent money from them if I am going to have them. I guess I need more traffic. |
