Default What do you do for a living, and what did you do to get there?

Title says it all. Discuss.

I'm asking this question because I'm looking for direction. I'm a Junior in high school and I can't decide which skills to develop in order to "make it" in the world. I don't quite have any useful skills yet.

I wrote this recently:
Finding Your Life Purpose And Developing The Drive To Get It

You will have some skills that you might not recognise as such yet, maybe you are too young to know what you want to do, maybe you are young enough that you still believe you can be great.

You need to find out what it is that you truly desire in life, I live a lifestyle that is the envy of many, yet I am not finished yet as this is not what I truly desire, though it is very comfortable.

You probably shouldn't look at what other people did to "make it". You should ask yourself what you really want to do in life and then see what you need in order to get there.
