Thanks Ken. I do know godaddy has some sort of a marketplace to sell websites, domain etc. Now that I think of it, I think it's geared toward selling domain names only.

Selling a site is similar (but much smaller scale) to selling a business. Lots of info to be found on that. What specifically do you need to know? And what country are you in? (For the legal stuff.) |

@spirit -- I'm in the US. Actually from all the research I've been doing today I've gotten lots of useful help from a couple of people who've done it. I have a pretty good idea of how to go about it now. Thanks so much.

I sold domain just because guy contacted me. When buying site - people are looking if it has moneymaking potential. Old? Well established? Traffic? Backlinks? Brand is known? Content? Everyone essentially want to get something for nothing - so if you can convince that by buying your site people will recover their investment tenfold - this might work Gleb

I sold and bought many sites. What exactly do you want to know and what ranges are we talking about $$?

I sold my first blogspot blog. If you can, see if you can sell it to someone you know and that knows you, but also at least make sure to sell it to a person who has owned or currently owns a website. I put a "site for sale" message at the top of the website I wanted to sell but I didn't get it sold until I started proactively emailing other website owners to see if they were interested. They'll probably want to know things like how much potential it has, how much money does it make per month/year, how much upkeep, how personal is it etc. Good luck with it! |

@allen, I agree with you. My site is an SBI site, and I have gotten a lot of help from the SBI forums on how to go about it. Duh, I should have started there first. I actually would much rather sell it to someone who already is familiar with (and believes in) SBI as it would make it so much easier. I've gotten quite a few interested inquirers so this should go well.

You seems to did quite a work on this site - decent organic traffic + plenty of backlinks. Does potential buyer need to be locked into SBI hosting or he can move it anywhere without destroying URL structures?

From looking at the SBI FAQ, I conclude that you can certainly move your domain to a different host, you just wouldn't of course be able to use the SBI tools any longer. Of course, I imagine anyone looking to move to a different host would be doing so because they didn't need to use SBI.
