Default Blog marketing

So how do you market your blog?

I assume that the best way is to comment frequently and participate in forums. So far the largest traffic on my site comes through my sig in this forum, which is perfect for me, as I would write here anyway and the forum-goers here are very appropriate for my blog. But I'm wondering if I can expand further.

I'm giving Deviantart a go, as I can make lots of small contributions, enjoying doing so, and have my sig in every one. They're not personal growth oriented, though, but I figure art is a more conscious subject than most. A lot of the people I like most are artists.

Where else do you go?

How can I find good blogs and communities to post in? I could do with some new stuff.

Andrew

Article marketing is a pretty good method of getting your link out there.

Ezine and Articlesbase (google them) are probably the best for this (although ezine is a giant pain in the ass to get them approve your article, but it's worth the traffic you get from them).

Another method is to join blog carnivals.

Put your link in your sig on message boards, submit your site to social bookmarking sites (Digg, Stumbleupon, delicious), comment on other blogs, and create an ebook that you can offer for cheap (or free) that will have the link to your site in it.

Hey Andrew,

Not sure if something is up right now but I can't get to your blog. I'll try again after and provide some feedback

Yeah, I've just sent an email to my hosts. Thanks, with any luck it'll be back up soon.

I'm not going to worry about marketing my blog until I have some decent content that's worth offering (which will be pretty soon).

For now, I just let people know I have a blog and give them the link. I put it in my signatures, etc. etc.

I'm about to do a social media campaign with some of the blog carnival stuff.

Also, work on SEO!
