Boston area anyone?

I'm currently working on a bunch of internet related business ideas, including web apps, traffic websites and a business (hybrid internet / brick and mortar) that I hope to franchise.

I'm looking to connect with entrepreneurs in the Boston area. Anyone out there?

I live in the Cambridge/Somerville area and have been an entrepreneur for... oh... about 90 days now. It's funny, Boston is supposed to be this big startup hub (second only to Silicon Valley), but I don't seem to run into too many entrepreneurs out here. Maybe I'm hanging out with the wrong crowd.

That's almost certainly the issue. Try to find people your age with the same goals as you, who are proactive in reaching said goals. Look around for a small business alliance or start your own. Ask around - it's def. worth the effort.

Yep, about 25 miles west of Boston here.

As to hooking up as a group, I'm actually working on an organization for the New England area. (It's been under wraps so far, so this is actually the first public mention!) It will be specific to those interested in search engine marketing, but that's pretty much anyone these days.

Will update you folks when we have things more under way over the next month.

Ben, you're definitely hanging with the wrong crowd. I seem to trip over entrepreneurs everywhere I go. Check out the meetups on Meetup: World's largest community of local Meetups, clubs and groups!. There are a bunch of different groups for entrepreneurs in the Boston area.

Fair enough. Even in a startup hub you can't expect everyone you run into to want to start their own business. I'm officially making it a goal to meet more entrepreneurs in my area. Perhaps it's time to move over to one of the goal setting threads now...

Ben, what type of business to you plan to start?
