In almost everything I've ever done, I've turned to this forum for help or suggestions, so here I am again I'm 17 right now, and I would like some money to spend on my life goals (zany stuff that will be good blog material). I've settled on a reasonable amount and slapped a one-month-trial sticker on it just for fun, so now I just need to figure out how to make that money. I could do it via freelance web programming, but coding for a whole month would get boring fast, so I want to try at least a couple of other things also. I'm now looking for money-making ideas or suggestions. Preferably they should be fun, nonconventional, or interesting in some way. I'll most likely update this thread as I go. My more detailed blog post about this can be found here |

You don't just make $1200 out of thin air, if you are starting from a place of much less than that. Instead of thinking short-term "make money in 30 days", think long-term sustainable profits by creating timeless value, something Steve is a big fan of. If you have read Steve's blog posts about when he started his website, I believe he said he worked on it for 5 months before he saw a dollar of profit. And in his first month of profit, he made something like $6. If he had showed his website to someone back then, and said "some day this will pay for all my bills", nobody would have believed him. But look at him and his website today. Focus on doing exactly what Steve says: 1) Make something of great value, and 2) Deliver it to many, many people. |

| Especially if he is a good coder and works with a big client and takes part payment as equity. I have worked with an online company that went from $0 to an offer of $1 million for 100% ownership in 3 years - that works out significantly more than $1200 a month. I can tell you $1200 a month is doable, but you're not going to get anyone on here telling you how it can be done - you need to come up with something new all by yourself. I have an expression of interest from a big name movie, if I do the movie and it comes out (sometimes movies don't finish) then the web traffic on my site will push my Adsense earnings alone well over $1200 a month. I have two smaller movies that I acted in that may well push me over that figure in the next 3 months IF I can get PR with traditional media in the way that I want |

On topic, have you tried making money with your blog? I just started trying to make some money generating blogs, and it's a ton of fun. I've only made a few cents off of them, but I'm making some serious progress. I think $1200 in one month would be a little difficult, but in 2-3, entirely possible. Anyways, if you're interested, I'd recommend checking this blog out. How to Make Money Online for Beginners That's one of the few genuine websites that teaches you how to make money blogging. Good luck with whatever you choose!

I definitely do not recommend becoming an actor it's the same as being a drug dealer, you only make money if you make it to the top. BUT my personal plan can be taken and used in another field. Traditional media is still very powerful, and links from newspaper websites are very strong authority links which Google rankings likes. Getting PR or an interview in the traditional media can send tons of traffic to your site, this is my plan - I need to monetize fame, as fame is useful for some freebies at clubs but that is about it.

Hi dinc, I'm glad I didn't judge you based on your question, but went to read the articles you linked. I really like how you think through your ideas practically, weighing costs and benefits. I also like your self-reflection (on skills you want to gain) and your creativity (the idea of doing your programming work in a mall for a month to challenge yourself to work on your people skills)! And I get a totally different picture of you hearing that you actually want to make 1200$ in a month because you a) want to pay back 800 to your Grandpa who actually didn't express urgency around it and b) are a deadline-motivated person, and setting the goal to achieve that in a month would actually support you to work on it.
