I recently had an opportunity to hear Andy Andrews speak and he is a wonderful and inspiring storyteller. His book, The Traveler's Gift is a story about a husband and father who has fallen to the worst part of his life and through his trials he comes to know the 7 decision to personal success.

It is an absolutely wonderful book!

If anybody is interested in Self-Belief and NLP, I strongly recommend "Master Your Mind Design Your Destiny" By Adam Khoo.

His book talks about your subconscious mind, self belief, introduction to NLP. Simply fantastic!

I improved my grades in University in leaps and bounds after reading his book.

I'd recommend anything by Brian Tracy when it comes to dealing with money and developing business wealth.

But in reality most of the books already mentioned give this advice:

Spend less than you earn and invest the difference for long term growth
(Seek to live of 90% of your earnings and invest the difference)
Look at your beliefs about money and discard those that get in the way
Develop and abundance mentality.

I'd also echo Dave's point about applying what you read but it is worth seeking out a few authors and finding one whose style you really like and then following their advice. You know when you have read too much about wealth building when you start making comments like - "Well there was nothing new in that book!"

Good luck

Maybe the similarity to the idea of the "rat race" was intentional, to connect with readers who saw themselves as trapped. If they can identify with the stories in the book, it might have mroe of an impact on them.

Are there any higher-quality books on dealing with change?

If someone came to me and asked what books I recommend for a sound understanding of basic financial principals, I would recommend:

Rich Dad Poor Dad

Forget about the author and focus on the content. For many people, this book is their first book that offers an awakening to how people view assets and what we should be teaching our children. A very important book and should be read by everyone that is not sophisticated in understanding assets and investments.

Then I would recommend The Richest Man in Babylon

This book lays a wonderful foundation on how to treat and take care of your money.

Then readers advance to Think and Grow Rich followed by Maximum Achievement (Brian Tracy) for books on thinking and becoming succesful and goal setting.

POWER, how to get it, how to use it.1975
this is the book that will get you a bigger raise, a better job and total control over yourself ane everyone around you! according to the author Michael Korda.
I am reading it at the moment. most of the book is about the politics of the office life as well as human behaviour.

That crazy Australian dentist, Paddi Lund, has a wonderful book called "building The Happiness-Centered Business".

Solutions Press - Introducing Dr Paddi Lund Business, Happiness & Money, Never Mixed ... Until Now!

I have read the book several times but I don't have any of his more expensive materials.

While my bottom line is a net profit goal.. the top line is to enjoy owning a business that is enjoyable and challenging. Otherwise why bother?

Let me recommend Robert Ringer as he has a great writing style and his knowledge is profound yet easily understood.

Also, the EarlyToRise newsletter with Michael Masterson and many other fine minds always gives me new knowledge and ways of growing.

Default The Woman's Way To Wealth

I too like The Spirituality of Success. And for anyone starting out or wantin got improve their business, I'd like to recommend the E-myth books are great -- the best hands-on, practical books about making money through business on the market, in my estimation.

Women forum members might like to check out our "bible" The Woman's Way to Wealth".

Sorry, I don't have anything to contribute, I was just tickled at that recommendation. All I've read of these kinds of books is Rich Dad, Poor Dad, and I really liked it, actually. Though Kiyosaki's advice is rather vague, to someone unacquainted with even the basics of investment and asset-building, it's really inspiring.

Default Sales Success

"The Ultimate Sales Machine" by Chet Holmes is a phenomenal book!

There are some really excellent examples on how to create step-by-step procedures for increasing sales without leaving anything to chance.

If you have an analytical personality this book will definitely "click" with you.

You will learn strategies for time management, creating new procedures in your organization and also learn how to identify "Top Sales Performers" for your company.

Enjoy!

Default Zero Resistance Selling

In "Zero Resistance Selling" by Dr. Maxwell Maltz....

You will find some great case studies that dive into the underlying beliefs behind selling.

Many times we know what we need to do....we know the "how"....we know the techniques and mechanics behind selling....but it's the getting us to do what we know we should be doing that is the challenge.

Dr. Maltz also covers How to overcome call reluctance as well how to handle stalls and objections.

If you have a passion for selling...and have not quite become the Top Sales Professional that you know lies within you....this book is a must read.

Wish you the best!

I've seen a lot of good suggestions so far. I recommend the books by Mark Joyner:

The Irresistible Offer
The Great Formula

He writes with great humor. His books bring back complex material to simple explanations (he's also the creator of simple-ology).

Take a look at my site for more tips.

For those folks starting out (or don't know where to start), my personal recommendation is: The Automatic Millionaire.

Admittedly this is a bad title. And if it wasn't for Oprah promoting it - I would not have known about it. It's a great book if you don't know where to start and has helped me tremendously in starting my investing on the right track.

Here's a link to Amazon:

The Art of the Deal.

It's more of just a recap of Donald Trump's career up to that point but was interesting nonetheless.

I'm finishing an Amazon order and would like to get some business/money related books -- already have in my basket How I Made It by Rachel Bridge, E-Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber and Getting Business to Come to You by Douglas Edwards, although I'm not sure I want that last one.
Any of these I shouldn't bother with?

My first introduction to business books was reading Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Kiyosaki, which inspired me a great deal at the time, and The Richest Man in Babylon by George Clason which I still keep on my nightstand. And what I'm mostly interested in is probably just the usual stuff, entrepreneurial subjects and personal finance, something about financial independence, passive income and so on. It's just that there's so much fluff and hype out there that I'm not sure where to start, especially since I have to order online without having a chance to flip through them first to spot the duds.

Any recommendations?

Here is a list btw. of some of my favorite business/money related books to date:

The Monk and the Riddle by Randy Komisar
- Been a while since I read it, but have a very fond memory of it. Spiritually grounded business philosophy with practical advice on start-ups

Dot Bomb by David Kuo, Startup by Jerry Kaplan and The Nudist on the Late Shift by Po Bronson
- Great stories from Silicon Valley in the late '90s

The Millionaire Mind by Thomas Stanley
- An interesting look at the financial habits of millionaires, got me to see that being a millionaire is not necessarily a 24/7 rap video

The White Ladder diaries by Ros Jay
- The diary of a couple that decides to start their own book publishing business. Very entertaining and comforting

From Acorns by Caspian Woods, The Beermat Entrepreneur by Mike Southon and Chris West and The Entrepreneur's Book of Checklists by Robert Ashton
- Very similar books on the steps of starting your own business from idea to execution, although From Acorns is my favorite

Less is More edited by Goldian Vandenbroeck
- A collection of quotes on simplicity and voluntary poverty. Highly recommended to get a clearer perspective on money and material luxury

__________________________________________________ ____________

Just finished placing my order, and the business related books I decided to add were The Art of the Start and Rules for Revolutionaries by Guy Kawasaki. And also The Long Tail by Chris Anderson, which I suppose qualifies as a business book.

Still very interested in hearing from people about their personal favorites, especially in fluff infested areas like financial independence, personal finance etc.
I do agree.. i also highly recommended Rich dad and poor dad.. For Law of attraction books may refer the secrets or may get the free reports from Report Download and motivational and inspirational books... just refer to Unleash Hidden Power at http://www.motivational-inspirationa...ry=1&aff=58942
