Question Student Loan Help!

I was just wondering what some of the people who've put themselves through collage have done to raise funds to pay off student loans? I go to an exspensive art school, that I love, but it's going to coast a lot to pay back my loans.

At this stage of your life, I wouldn't worry about it. Just enjoy your college experience and get the most out of your education as possible.

Once you get out of school and start making money it becomes a lot easier to deal with. There's any number of programs for deferring your loans due to economic hardship, and also a variety of refinancing options that allow you to fit repayment into your budget more easily. Some of these are based on the notion that as you progress in your career you can make bigger payments, so the initial ones start small and grow over time.

I put myself through college and have paid off most of my student loans. It seemed overwhelming while I was actually *in* school, but once you start making money you'll be fine and the banks/Federal government provide many options to make repayment easier and more affordable. I had some trepidation about taking out the loans in the first place, but in retrospect I'm glad I did as it enabled me to get more out of my college education and experience without having to work full time and try to go to school.

Hi!

I can understand the distress about paying off those loans! They seem to stack on one after the other and you're left thinking... is there an end? I am currently paying off my loans. I thinking it is doable. I make an extremely small stipend each week, but I pay $100 to my loans a month, and expect to be done in 8 years. And that's not considering that I don't expect to be making a small stipend for the rest of my life. I think that if you are diligent about paying, eventually it will get done. In the meantime, you can check out places like fastweb.com for scholarships. Also, if you are unique in any way (extra tall, left handed, epileptic, minority, etc). you can google a scholarship relating to those too.
Good luck!

Cheers,
Love

P.S. You can also consolidate your loans when the interest rate is low to lock in that low interest rate.
