Arrow Social Networking for B2B?

Hi all,

I have been looking at really pushing my company (which is in the e-learning domain) into the Social Media front. Now, we do have a corporate blog, professional profiles of company people on LinkedIn, but not more than that. So, the main focus was Facbook, Twitter, revamping the blog, virals etc. I've been reading on this though one thing keeps grabbing my attention. Is it gonna be good enough step for a B2B...? Or is it worth the risk that SN, being an open media to voice anything anyone wants, comes with. I think there is some potential, if not too much, in the SN initiative for a B2B. What do you think? Just needing inputs here.

Thanks.

Why do you want to push into the Social Media front?

The best social media for B2B is Do something, Learn something, Share something, Change something - Meetup.com if you are interested in accessing local demographics. The others are ok for global or online-only.

Umm, coz we don't want to be left out on the social media front, since we could use some of it to our advantage, rather to our readers' advantage too coz we are mainly going to knowledge-share in the domain of learning, wherein we want to project ourselves as "gurus" or experts. Tbh, we really are so looking at the metrics, but then as they say, sky's the limit.
Also, I believe we can create awareness about the CSR which we've undertaken since past 10 yrs or so. Its in the field of Learning Disability of childeren.
Just a few of many reasons to answer.

Thanks Jennifer, but we are purely global.

You are welcome.

Other people reading this thread may not be global, though. It's a valuable resource.

So, basically you don't know.
That sounds to me a bit like what Seth Godin describes as meatball sundae.

Hey, if you don't try new things, you'll never know if they would have helped or not.

A good place for B2B companies to look is within their own profession. Many professions are starting to develop their own micro-social networks particular to their niche. IT Toolbox is the big hit for IT professionals. While I personally don’t use MyRagan, a lot of communicators have found this to be a comfortable place to engage in social media. How about LawLink for lawyers?
