If you're willing to share, how much income does your website produce in a month? And what sort of website is it? I'm most curious about information websites that use advertising to generate revenue. I'm developing an information website, and curious about what sort of money can be made here. The topic for mine is the Bach flower remedies. Last edited by Plays With Life; 07-21-2009 at 02:54 AM. I strongly suggest that you plan on selling your own product instead of relying on advertising for revenue (or, do both). Money from advertising is a business model that requires lots and lots of traffic, whereas selling your own product only requires a small amount of specifically targeted traffic. You can easily get targeted traffic instantly by paying for things like Google Adwords, whereas massive traffic takes up to months or years to build up. I made and operate the acupuncture website found in my link below. At 1400 visitors per month (last month) it made about $30 in Google Adsense revenue. I have since taken the Adsense off as I am currently working on getting products to sell instead. Whatever you choose to do, I wish you the best of luck. Feel free to pm me with any questions you have. I am still learning, but I do have the benefit of being a Site Build It! member, so I do have some education in the field of online business. I have a web site about a popular video game that earns anywhere from $100 to $300 a month. This money is earned from private advertisers and a little from Google Adsense. I started this site as a hobby many years ago in 2002 with no intention to ever make money. A couple years ago I thought, "Can it make money?" I tried doing little things to make money, and now it does. I'm going to revamp the site soon and rethink my money strategy for it. |

I'm currently having trouble telling. One service I used for reporting was averaging between one and two thousand unique visitors a day. Another service is reporting around 400 unique visitors a day. I need to install some statistic software on the server itself. This will give me the most accurate results. I know on some days I've had 10,000 visits or more. This was when my site was on Digg or something like that. |

A software on the server that just catches every receipt would also count a lot of bots.

Anyway, the thing about starting an information site (like mine is) is that it's incredibly cheap. I paid £6.00 for the web address, it took a couple of months to recoup that but it's been done now and everything above that is pure profit. Ads are generated by google adsense and average about £0.30 a click. I don't know how good that relative to other people's sites though since different ads are worth different amounts. like it was said before, you need traffic to make it work. To get more traffic you need traffic. Traffic = more traffic, however you want to look at it. It's not my day job thankfully, otherwise i'd starve right now but hopefully in the future it may make enough money to be a significant part of my income. you need to promote like a crazy man. Tell everyone you meet about your site and tell them to tell their friends. talk to everyone on facebook about it, twitter it like crazy, digg your own topics, whatever you can do to get your links out there.

Congrats, Chris. I think the whole concept of making money online is so amusing. Like, it's so funny how easy it can be. I made a web site for fun about a video game, of all things, and now it can pay for a modest car. Look at this statement: A video game has paid for my car. LOL, the whole idea makes me laugh. The Internet is a cool place, full of amazing new opportunities. Look at me happy after I bought that car: ![]() Too funny. I still remember the day. This was a couple years ago. I'm squinting because the sun's in my eyes. Look at Twitter. You have a simple site that lets people type little messages about whatever, and you can see messages from other people. And for our logo we'll have a cute blue bird. No big deal, right? But look at how explosively profitable and valuable Twitter has become. So funny! And of course there's the obvious success example: Steve Pavlina. |
