First, brief intro. I go to a local healing center, and there is different practitioners working there with different modalities. I volunteer there on Fridays and go to a weekly class. The owner asked me to take over their web site. Now, it's not much to look at, at the moment. It's only been a couple of days, so I only updated some stuff that she wanted, but I really want to build a new web site for her, more simple, efficient, and attractive. She also pays rent for property in a nice area, but from what she told me, she doesn't make that much money off of her business. She just loves doing it. I would really like to A. Help her bring in more income B. Bring in more business to the healing center for everyone working there C. Get paid for doing it, so I don't have to get a full time job either We talked about some ideas, and she is open to doing online store and blogging. She is just reluctant to take on more work. This is where I come in, but obviously, as much as I like to volunteer, I can't devote all my time to it either, unless I'm getting paid. What would be some way to bring in more income through a web site?

What kind of healing exactly - does she use any tools or props - mats, balls, weights, oils...? She could sell a number of things for home use, it just depends on what is practical. In Bikram yoga studios they sell all kinds of stuff in the "foyer" by the counter - books, health foods, etc. To sell stuff on a website, you need to draw traffic by providing useful information. Try to research everything the average person might want to know about these healing methods. It would be great if your instructor could write some articles dealing with her experience to bring something unique to the table, but you could write as the voice of a student, too. With sufficient traffic, you can list product recommendations through affiliate programs like linkshare and commissionjunction - just go to their ".coms" and check out what they have. Also, high traffic is likely to jack up the amount of customers for classes. |

Get Google adsense and put the Google ads on the site. Then when someone clicks on an ad, it makes money for you and Google. See my losing weight site below to see an example. When there is a big picture ad instead of 3 text ads, I get paid more when someone clicks onto it.

i think content is always the king. if you have a good content, make people feel constructive, do some promotions, traffic will be increasing.
