Default I got a job in England! Any brits out there?

So, a few days ago I was offered a low pay Warehouse job in Leicester, UK.

I've looked all over sweden for every job I could find, warehouse, janitor, bike messenger, gas station attendant, Whatever. And a year later. Nothing.

Then out of nowhere a friend offers me a job!
I took the offer, mainly because I promised myself to take every opportunity I got as a way of kicking myself in the ass so I get on with my life.

Anyway, do you have any suggestions/advice for me, new to the country?

I'm currently checking up on how legit the job is, as well as some other things.

I've read somewhere about Cellphone cards you can buy that don't require any subscription to a phone company, where might I get one of those?
My current swedish subscription would cost me 400euro a week just for being in another country..

I'm leaving for London, Stansted on Saturday so as quickly as possible would be greatly appreciated

(I do not require any visa to work in England apparently, coming from sweden)

Although you may not need a visa, you probably will need to apply for several things at the government.

I am from the Netherlands and living in Belgium, and although I have a legal right to live and work here I still needed to apply for a lot of things. All in all it took me almost a month for a temporal permit and 5 months for a 5 year permit.

Look into what you need, stuff like birth certificate, enough salary, place to live etc.

Good luck, there is nothing better for personal development than living in another country for a while!

Congrats, hope the job is legit!

Check this official site out for info regarding EU citizens (Sweden counts).

UK Border Agency | European citizens

When you get to the UK, you can get 'pay as you go' phones, if you take an unlocked handset with you from Sweden, you can just buy a SIM card. (Unlocked = it is not tied to any particular network. Check in your mobile phone shop) for a relatively small amount of cash. Your friend should be able to help you choose or may be even able to get you a free SIM - I sometimes see offers on Yahoo etc for free SIMs from O2 for example.

I have O2 which allowed me to buy a one-off £4.99 (6Euro?) 'bolt-on' so I can text internationally for 10p (about 12Eurocents?) per SMS, might be worth it for you if you want to text home occasionally without worrying about costs.

There are other big providers there, Vodaphone, Three, Orange and probably more - I'm out of touch with it a bit now as I don't live theer.

Now I'm in Egypt, people in the UK can text my UK phone and I can read texts free, but I reply from my Egyptian phone as it's a lot cheaper.
