Because money is a form of energy.

Why is managing my energy an important life skill?

Managing my money well helps me achieve what I want to achieve.

Try not managing your money for a while. See what happens...

Because money is probably the most useful and versatile tool you can have that isn't a part of your body.

Besides the obvious fact that we need money (or some other form of currency) in order to provide for our basic needs, money is a tool that can help us achieve our dreams.

money represents resources.
We have finite resources and infinite wants.
The finite resources must be managed in order to satisfy maximum wants.
Money must be managed to maximise the satisfaction you gain.

If you don't like the idea of managing money, look at it as managing your satisfaction.

What if there wasn't a finite amount of resources but rather an infinite amount?

Check out Unlimited Wealth by Paul Zane Pilzer if you are truely interested. My bet is that you won't check it out though.

Or you could cut to the chase and summarize why you think that there is an infinite amount of resources when economists strongly believe otherwise.

No probably not but I take your point. The plain fact is that at any point in time there is only so much iron ore, wood, oil, wheat, rice and money, it's measured by the worlds banks and statistical organisations, it is finite.
Who's to say that the wealth in your posession won't double every day for the next year... but it will still be finite at any particular point in time.

Once one has massive wealth, the priorities may change a little from deciding if you pay the electiricty bill or the gas bill this week to deciding if you invest in your own server for your website or do you pay increased charges for your hosting, but you must still manage your resources otherwise your wealth will begin to dissapear.
