to make some money just using a free blogger blog. I just set one up, it's my signature link if anyone would like to check it out. But I'm wondering if anyone is making some money using Blogger. I'm not trying to make a killing, I'd be okay with getting my revenue up to a consistent $500 per month. Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated. Thank You |

Hi Jimmy The straight answer is - yes! I have about 12 Blogger blogs and they all make money. You need to get into promoting them in addition to writing them; that involves building links to them from other sites. There are plenty of ways to do that including what you are now doing i.e. forum posting. Here are a few ways ... Forum Posting Blog Commenting Article Submission Press Releases Reciprocal Linking Directory Submissions Social Bookmarking Good luck! Will |

I love free Blogger sites. I use them in a unique way -- I'm writing an ebook about it. I just was exploring Microsoft's free business website model. They will even give you a domain name for free for 1 year (the second year is 15 bucks, so now that I think about it, it's probably that they give you a domain for 2 years for a mandatory 15 bucks)... Anyway, Microsoft's free sites just didn't have the simplicity of Blogger. I have a boat-load of Blogger sites -- they are just so quick and easy to use.

Hi Julia, I'm doing better I think but in no way am I making money. I've had it for around two months now and made $3.35 with adsense. I just signed up for bidvertiser so I haven't seen anything from that yet. But I'm still happy because I know it's possible now. Also, I haven't been posting new articles as often as I should and I've been concentrating on building a personal brand on Twitter, maybe too much, I think there's potential there but too many people spam way too much. I've also been realizing how much work there is to do, There's always something else you can use to promote yourself and it's hard to do everything. Anyway, I think you've made a good choice and I'd love to look at your blog and I'd love to link our blogs? For now my dreams of laying on a beach and doing nothing with an Aston Martin in my driveway while promoting animal rights is still a ways off but someday. PS - would anyone think it wrong of me to put up a PayPal donation button on my blog and donate 80% of proceeds to local animal shelters and use some of the money to progress my animal and environmental activism. That's what I really want to write about but that's not what people seem to want to read, people just want to read how to make money or about fads and celebrity gossip lol. Any suggestions please!! Jim, hope you'll reach your goals)) As for my blog, I'm afraid it won't be of much interest to you as it's in Russian. As far as I can see, there are many blogs that are devoted to one certain theme, but then there are many of them where a blogger just chats about everything that comes to their mind. I'd like to ask people here on the forum: do you think it's necessary to devote one's blog to a certain theme, especially if one wants to make a profit on it? |

I tried to write about a bunch of different stuff on Tri-Freedom and I got pretty good feedback, but the search engines never really caught on to it. So I'd say yes, focus on a particular subject is a very strong factor in the total traffic received.

Jim, there is nothing wrong with a free blog. At some point though your going to want to have your hosting. Remember, the stuff you post on those free blogs belongs to host. That's another reason why many people will get away from the free blogs. |

There are even tools to autopost to blog -- you don't have to do anything. I'm not a fan of this though, because I hate having to sift through auto-generated content to get to something substantial on the internet.

i checked your blog. my first concern is that it's on someone else's website, effectively growing their asset rather than yours. yours grows a little, but it'd be better on your own site. you can check out Ueuo.com - Free Web Hosting Area for some free web hosting, they have a one click install of wordpress and their own dns for redirecting your url. that's who i use. technically it's still growing their asset but i don't have a little logo in the corner of my website. you can also pay $1 a month to have them totally remove the popups from your site. I'm considering this now. |

Your blog seems to be a mix of animal rights activism and money making posts. These 2 don't really go hand in hand. I understand your problem with monetising it because I don't think there aren't many ads Google Adsense can serve you for your activism topic (any kind of political activism niche blog would struggle with ads networks) but I feel you are cheapening the impact of your activism by having those money posts on it. Perhaps run 2 blogs instead? A properly done financial blog can easily earn money because those kinds of ads pay well but Google Adsense won't be able to serve your site with the best financial ads if it gets mixed messages from your content, with all the animal rights activism stuff thrown in between. So perhaps set up a financial blog to earn money from ad networks and finance your animal rights activism blog, on which you can have a donate button (and remove the ads from it)? Activism is more likely to attract donations if it's pure activism and as I said, your money making posts lessen the impact of your activism.

On the question of whether to focus a blog or not - I have 3 blogs. One is the one in my signature but to be honest I've not really put a huge amount of effort in to building it yet. My main one which has been going for around 18 months relates to a particular niche and I mainly make posts about that niche area on it. Just now and then I will post something 'off topic' - labelled as such! I know from emails received etc that people often find this blog useful (which is it's purpose!) and some people will spend a long time just nosing around on it when they first come across it Oldbag of Cairo for the inquiring minds that want to know! That said, and even though I have AdSense, I have made not 1 cent out of it - I don't know if anyone has ever clicked an Ad on there! Doesn't really bother me though as it wasn't aimed at money. I have wondered about doing donation buttons for relevant charities on there. My third blog is a secret |
