It'll sell downloadable shareware PC games and is a sole proprietorship. I'm developing a game right now and don't have anything else related to the business done(website, ect). In the game, you have to blow up bridges. (you're hired by the government to get rid of bridges, ect) You're doing this on foot though so you won't be able to cross the bridges again after you blow them up, since they go over water. You have to be on a bridge to set an explosive which will detonate once you get off it(so you could go back after you plant the bomb). To make the game challenging, some bridges will only let you go in certain directions, or force you to go back after you get on it, or force you across.. You also have to gather your explosives depending on the difficulty. Also, there are things like boats and helicopters(which would change the rules a bit if you use them). Could go into more detail if necessary. Right now, I have a tile/entity editor partially done and am writing the game. I'll return to the editor once I write enough of the game to need to. It's 800 lines not counting the game code which is a dumbed-down version of the editor right now. I'm working on it for an hour or two per day and am aiming for two consistantly. The code isn't very specific yet so I could change the design around and not have to redo anything(or much). Budget's $50 for now(won't need much money for a domain name and the type of hosting I intend to use; $8.25 initially and $1/gb and $0.01/mb/mo for hosting). I'll design the website locally and use http://www.nearlyfreespeech.net/ for hosting(if the site becomes popular I'd switch hosts), and Paypal for processing orders(unless someone knows of something better?). Not very sure about marketing(how to spend lots of time doing it). So: Any advice? Anyone know about taxes? Can I call my business something other than my name and not have it be considered a fictious name by doing something(ex. writing my name down somwhere on the site)? How would I market it effectively without spending much money? |
