I just launched a new website. I hope to help students, teachers and self learners to easily find learning materials that are available online and free to access. Highercourses.com -- university course materials search engine Please review it and tell me what you think about it. Any feedback is greatly appreciated! Thanks! |

I like the colors and the layout for the most part. The only suggestion i have that may help things look better would be to move the buttons centered instead of left aligned! |

Thank you very much for your feedback and suggestions! I do not have many css experiences and they are codes that I found on a free button creator website. It seems that the <div>...</div> enclosed part cannot be aligned center using "align=center" and I have tried a number of solutions on the web with no success. Would you please give some advice on this? Thanks a lot!

When I search course material I either know a university that has the thing that I'm searching for in which case I will go to that university or I don't know which university website will have the material in question and then asking me about the first letter of the university is silly. Not to forget that you can't completely search most university website from the outside to begin with as most university don't make everything available to nonstudents. I personally have to use a proxy or vpn to access past exams and the script of most of my courses. |

Just one feedback. While the site says you would get listing of courses the search options goes much deep into it. I wrote name of my institue to find out the courses conducted by it but the results were different from my expecation. Hope this will help. |

Thank you all for reviewing my site and your kind feedbacks and help. This is a beta testing version of the site, and I will do a major update in the next month. There will be more course materials included and with less errors. The site is not going to be divided by university names, but by material types (syllaubs, assignments, lecture notes, quiz and exams, hybrid or other). And then there will be a "search by university" drop down list for users to search within their own individual institution. To:TaylorLord and James81 I have tried both your methods and they did not seem to work. However I believe they are the correct ways to go, I guess some other part of my website coding might have messed things up. I will continue to work on this. If it still does not work, I will change my web layout to avoid the div. To:Brutha Your first suggestion will be implemented into my next update. Your second suggestion is just one of the reasons I want to create this site. If one university does not have or provide open access to the learning materials you need, another university might do. As a student, I used to find the exact same course assignments from 3 other institutions. To:♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ The site is a full text search engine, and right now it does not have the option to single out materials by individual institution. So if you search for "stanford", it will return all courses from all institutions which contain "stanford" somewhere in their course page. Your suggestion is a great one, and I will implement it in the next update. |
