I started a new message board over here in Lafayette and West Lafayette called "Lafayette Talk". The hardest thing about starting a discussion board is getting the conversation going! If some of you would be willing to register and talk politics (or anything else) like you do here I would greatly appreciate it. I need some discussion bad! Obviously, the only way others are going to participate is if there are people already talking so I really could use the help. Just like here........feel free to start your own threads........or to respond to threads that others have made. Thanks a lot. Lafayette Talk. Are you writing everything now, or do you have some members? I just wondered. There is a variety of information, including an article about a NY newspaper article.... This newspaper is not known for getting the facts right, although, it does have exciting articles. I was going to respond in the blog, but didn't want to register for an Indiana blog. However, the banks didn't help move nuclear materials, but specific metals to Iran frm China. These metals could be used for anything. We buy our steel from China, and probably also tungsten. I bet we use more tungsten for lightbulbs than for nuclear missles..... Just a guess. Good luck with the blog.... |

It is very hard to just start forums from scratch. You really need to have secured steady traffic to your site before adding forums, or a conversation will just not happen. You need to have some other draw for people to keep coming back, like a blog or something else that updates often, because very few people will be returning to check on a thread that probably hasn't been posted in for a week. Busy forums are actually quite rare, and the ones that are busy are attached to sites that had a lot of traffic-drawing content to begin with. The internet is littered with lifeless forums. You have to grow traffic first, when it comes to forums, or else funnel it from some other Lafayette-oriented site with lots of readers. Because the subject matter only pertains to a limited population, it is going to be tough to get a lot of them there at once. I suggest adding a blog as the main part of the site, maybe Lafayette community news. If you can be the main community news provider in your city, you may be able to leverage that attention into your forums. Last edited by David Cain; 04-12-2009 at 05:43 AM. |
