Default The article on career apathy.

The article is here: Career Apathy

Yes, it's quite old, but I was reading it because it was relevant to me.

It had me thinking a lot, and also brought up some questions. I've noticed that a lot of this happened to me (frustration and a lot of learned helplessness due to trouble in school years ago and extended trouble in finding jobs over the years, to the point of having lost my ambitions once I had one and caring only about collecting a decent paycheck).

I've noticed there really isn't anything I like that much that I'd actively seek it out, though. Kind of like knowing what paths I'd like to rule out, but don't know what I'd actually want to choose nor what I'd have any actual advantage in.

A question came up: At what point do hobbies (such as videogaming, web-surfing, etc.) become "checking out of life"? Sometimes I wonder whether I had been "checking out of life" during the time I viewed as off-time.

Should this be moved to the Steve Pavlina main forum or merged with some existing thread there?
