Hi everyone, Just recently I realized that my major in college (Finance...[sigh]) might not get me the dream job I've wanted, so I decided to start a small e-commerce site to a) get some supplemental income and b) improve my skills so that I can freelance. I finished my e-commerce site last week, and I was hoping to get some feedback from more experienced web entrepreneurs on what little things I can correct in the next couple of days while I'm still starting to drive traffic. Any feedback is welcome, good or bad. Thanks :-D. Pure Jewelers |

Beautiful website. Nice color scheme. There are a few elements that are broken. Tables where you have adsense are on top of the showcasing your jewelry when you click on the picture. Get rid of adsense. You are selling your own work and basically you are allowing people to leave just for a few cents. Don't give an option for customer to leave jsut to earn a few pennies. Get rid of it. Its e-commerce website. Good looking pictures. Good work, just take off adsense. |

Great looking site! My favorite parts: clean, human readable and Search engine friendly urls! Nicely SEO optimized WP theme selection, with a good design/layout Like that you're using eJunkie for the eCommerce, great tools on the backend for affiliates and tracking sales. Good sized pictures for every product page Would like to see: email2friend stays on the page, not leave. There should be a version of that plugin that allows you to have a pop-up to fill in the information while staying on the product pages. Adsense, take out for for two reasons: one: you're not getting enough traffic to actually make any money coming in two: you're visitors leave your site for a few cents per click Could bring it back in if: you get enough visitors and traffic to your site for it to be worth having your visitors leave your site for the price of the Adsense revenue. Organic Marketing/SEO? I know your site is brand spanking new but its a great time to get a plan together for how to market and bring people into your site. If you'd like some help getting organic traffic I can help you map out a plan and see where your competitors are and what niche you're in and the moving parts to succeed in the organic search engine. Are you considering Paid Search Marketing? If you have a budget for paying for traffic in addition to or instead of organic marketing, there are some great keywords you can look into for bringing in visitors and split testing the product pages to see what gets better conversions. Best of Luck!! |

you have to remove the adsense like others have said..you have an ecommerce site...your focus should be on selling your product... I would not trust buying jewelry from a site that had adsense on it. It would make me think that the site is not focused on its product and that its not doing very well financially so it has to sell ad space to make ends meet. |

I love the site design, it's clean and emphasizes the product above all else. Personally I'd take AJAX away from your Shopping Cart system. It's too new a technology that will confuse some people trying to buy your jewelry. It also limits compatibility on a crucial component to your store. I think the Buy Now button should be bigger, since that's something you want to emphasize. Right now it stands out just as much as "Email to a Friend". |

Hi aaronsalls, I like the background color you chose for the site, it seems to go well with the theme of jewelry. One suggestion, and that is to sell that jewelry! Give vibrant, expressive descriptions of the listed jewelry that will make the customer want to buy it almost immediately, or at least remember the site. For example, "This ring will make a perfect promise or commitment ring", and "beautiful encrusted diamonds, you can see the sparkles for miles, real attention-getter "... or "do you have green eyes? These earrings go perfect with this!!".. Ok, anymore and I'm charging, lol... And a good tie-in for advertising- write articles, maybe on a special occassion like valentine's day, or an article on dressing and accessorizing and include your site address afterwards... Take care... |

Very elegant, my friend. Do you have an inventory of jewlrey, or do you have to purchase it from a wholesaler each time you get an order? I'm just surprised that you were able to set up a store so fast even though I assume you're not a big time jeweler. Anyway, I'm impressed! |

I think I agree with everyone else that it is a well designed site. I work for an e-commerce store myself, and I'll give some suggestions based upon how we do things at the e-commerce store I work for; 1/ is it possible that the featured item; the tennis bracelet could alternate when you reload the page? so there's a different featured item then? 2/ the text "Pure Jewelers is a Charlottesville-based jewelry company selling high-quality cubic zirconia sterling silver products. We're constantly adding new products, so make sure to come back to see our wares!" is quite light, maybe a darker colour, or bolder text possibly, experiment maybe and see what looks best 3/ I would recommend Our Price: $46.99 be in bigger text, maybe 2 sizes larger. We always have a crossed out RRP that is much higher than the price we sell it for, not sure if this is practical for your line of products. 4/ When you go to Pure Jewelers - Princess Tennis Bracelet it has on the right side a "if you have any questions please contact us on..." and also "orders >50 free delivery" I would recommend that this text should be on your front home page. When you say the "contact us if you have any questions, we are always happy to help" then it makes it look like you're real people and not just some vacant internet site to give money to and never hear from. 5/ Your title is Pure Jewelers, I would recommend you extend that with a slogan, eg. "Pure Jewelers- Internet leading Retailer of the most (insert adjective) Jewelery at the Most Affordable Prices" 6/ Where do you deliver to? USA Only? Canada? Overseas? maybe specify you deliver to 52 states and an estimate for delivery time. That's about all I can think of, hope some of my ideas are helpful! Good Luck! |
