Default Google PR rank changed

It looks like Google raised the bar on the PR rankings in January. This site is now a PR3. Many PR6 sites have dropped down to a PR5. I remember when this site was a PR6. An explanation of why this site is ranked low is that I have seen that many blog sites use the rel="nofollow" so the link is ignored.

Most of the pages on my site were PR5, but now they are PR4, except for one page that stayed at PR5. Have other people noticed these changes?

Thumbs up

Hi,

Page Rank certainly helps with the depth at which Google crawls a site, and it's important to crawl frequency, too. It's the site's history of changes that seems to be most important in how they set a crawl rate. That is, the more often Google notices that your pages are updated, the sooner they will revisit the site. In turn, the more pages you have indexed (which is largely based on Page Rank), the more opportunities Google has of spotting pages that have changed.
Be sure to observe your site with Webmaster Tools (all three engines have their versions) and see if crawl behavior changed when the pr of the home page changed.

Hope this will help you

I'm not sure the PR rankings even mean anything. I'm seeing more Google traffic now than ever -- a lot more than when the site was PR6. My search rankings terms seem basically unchanged regardless of PR.

ErinPavlina.com is now a PR4 -- that makes little sense given that StevePavlina.com gets 20x as much traffic and has tons more inbound links.

I basically ignore PR. AFAIK it's just a fictitious number to confuse Internet marketers.

PR doesn't mean that much, although I'm surprised too why its pr3. This site has some huge linking power and authority in google

Exactly... what matters is how readers see the site
