I originally read the SBI "Affiliate Masters Course" on PDF -- that was excellent. But nothing about social media in that one, that I recall.

4 days and I've already been already indexed by Google! How can you not love Wordpress?

Do you guys still submit to directories? I was wondering - except for the ones in the Strongest LInks list (which has about 100 directories from PR 6 to pr 0, and about 1 in 5 is free to submit to), where do you find other directories? And are directories which are not even among the approximately 100 best, worth submitting to? Have you noticed an increase in PR ?
Did any of the directories (big or small) answer you confirming or denying your subscription?

I still submit to niche directories every now and then, which I stumble across while browsing. I also have a free bit of software that lists a number of high PR ones, it fills in the boxes automatically on each submission page, I just type in the captcha and confirm. I reckon I've submitted to over 100 free directories but no idea how many have accepted! It seems only the small ones email me to let me know when I'm in. My page rank is now 3.

I did notice the other day - finally! - that if I type my website name "world of lucid dreaming" into Google it comes up first, along with popular pages from the site. Until now it was nowhere to be found, dwarfed by references to the famous book, Exploring The World of Lucid Dreaming by Stephen LaBerge

How can you "stumble upon" a directory which is not even the 100th? How many pages of google results deep do you go?
Is the software you use available on the internet? Can you tell me its name?
Thanks a lot!

I might find a paranormal website, for example, that has a Resources link, and that goes to a niche paranormal directory. Or I may search for "psychology directory" on Google and look at the first page results. Or I may browse IT forums about directory submissions and someone lists some good niche ones in my category. Sometimes a niche directory link is worthwhile even though its not a PR6 link or anything.

I wish I could! I reformatted my PC this week and lost this piece of software. Completely forgot to note it down. I'm sure you can find it with a Google search, or something similar. I'm looking again for something like "auto submit" and will let you know if I find anything good! NOTE - watch out for scams that autosubmit for you (to link farms) in exchange for a reciprocal link. This is NOT what I'm talking about! It's just a handy bit of software to speed things up, like RoboForm but with some good directories already listed for you.

Here you go, I think I was using a free trial of SubmitEaze:

I want a website design like Rebecca's. And I want to do it myself.

I also always wanted to learn HTML and CSS. So I'm doing that now. I love this stuff. In two days I've learned most of the useful functions and how they work. Playing with images, settings, etc.

You inspired the designer in me Rebecca!

Why am I doing this?

I feel I'll be a lot more flexible if I design the site now and then use my templates to type article than if I convert everything over later.

The only curiosity I have is how you did the drop shadow border around your entire site. That's cool.

Yeah I know. I believe that's actually her husband. I found stuff on the internet talking about making drop shadows around pages, just wanted to see if a different approach was taken.

Hey Fullcrum... the drop shadow is created by selecting the layer and then adding a layer style (fx at the bottom of the Layers box in Photoshop). Then tick drop shadow and adjust it however you want. Hope that makes sense!

Oh, you mean literally how to do it.

What graphic software do you have? There are many tutorials to be found on Google for adding drop shadows in Photoshop, Gimp, etc.

I know images. I have photoshop.

You have the entire page outset by a dropshadow. Your bottom graphic has a bulit in shadow, but I cannot figure out how to do that shadow around the entire box of content. AFAIK HTML doesn't do gradients. That's really what I'm getting it.

I do have a nice logo though in the shop.

Hey Fullcrum... he says that's the difference between a graphic and HTML-generated content. I think he made three separate graphics in Photoshop, each with their own drop shadow, which come together to form the entire page.

Does anyone know of any other service besides SBI that offers something like their "keyword search tracking" tool? Something that allows you to see which search terms are popular. I think Google has something like that, don't they?

Ahh thank you. Then making it will be easy .

SBI gets the service from wodtracker. Apparently it costs twice as much to get it from wordtracker alone for 1 year vs. doing it with SBI.

SBI gives you 25 searches with the first year yearly $299 fee, and then
if you want you can buy 100 more searches for $20, or 500 searches
for $50, and yes they use Wordtracker to get these numbers

unless you have strong inbound links, you will not get much traffic even if you
have the best keywords in the world

it is the combination of good keywords, good content and strong one way
inbound links from high PR

Default think success!

Hi all...great thread...

I found Rebbeca'S site and got excited all over again about my neglected, messy SBI site (see sig)...

I need to get my niche tighter

I need to use good keywords from my MKL and win more good juicy keywords..

My links seem to be scaling up ok...my rating is around 39.7 or something like that..

If any of you have any ideas for improving my site...please be brutally honest...regardless of what anyone says...I will succeed...whatever it takes.

THANKS!

Hi Yoopersmith

OOH I am so jealous of your site concept!!

Your homepage video about consciousness is awesome.... where can I find it on Google vids, I'd really like to put this on my site too... (if you dont mind!)

You asked for a little critique so here are some ideas for your homepage. I havent read the rest of your site yet but I certainly will, your concept is so cool.

I think your homepage text doesn't do your niche justice... for a few reasons:

- you could work in more concepts from the first video to get people REALLY excited exploring the site. Perhaps split it into sub headings: quantum physics, fractals, holographic universe, consciousness controls reality, etc.

- Im not sure who your audience is, but from the videos it suggests your going for a smart / scientific approach. The thing about The Secret, What The Bleep, etc is that parts of them are dumbed down and thats where I lost interest. So I'd like to see your site put forward a more scientific, analytical point of view, in keeping with the videos. At the moment the text seems a bit touchy feely, not enough facts and education. Thats something your videos convey quite well, and if you could replicate that style in your homepage text... wow!

- your first section tells us a lot about you (which is not a bad thing, SBI is all about bringing your personality to a website) but this belongs on an About Me page. Your homepage is to compel people to dive in, by offering an overview of your site concept and how it will benefit them. In short, too many words about who you are, not enough about philosophies of consciousness. You have limited space to get your message across!

So if it were my site I'd aim to summarize the contents of that first video on your homepage because its such an excellent concept and its already laid out for you. Also, since this is quite an involved subject, dont be afraid to make your homepage a little longer. Thats your #1 sales page for your website, so make it work for you!

Best of luck!!

PS I notice you have a page on Paraliminals - if you are at the monetizing stage you could sign up to the Learning Strategies affiliate program? Also you have a sub heading "Dream Play - coming soon" - I have written up this product with a review if it helps you: Paraliminals Dream Play CD by Learning Strategies

Hey glad you like it! I really love yours two...my seems a little broad in my mind right now...I am working to make it more a tight niche...

I read the Stephen Laberge book when I was in my 20's...I kept the dream journal and the whole bit...your site re-awakened something in me...THANKS!

I found this vid on Google video...it's awesome isn't...here's the link...I didn't make it, and as far as I know it's open source:

Consciousness Drives the Universe

I like that idea...

Ok...I have not met my audience yet...but I'm guessing they are mostly people

...really I want it to be everybody...but that doesn't work...so I know I don't like New-agey...too fluffy...I Don't really LOVE the hard science view either, but if I have to pick between the two I guess I will lean toward "less touchy feely" and more facts...THANKS!

Default Updated Home Page

Rebecca,

I updated my home page, trying to implement your suggestions...

Now, I will have to research and create some tier-two pages to link off of these sub-bullet ideas (and more!) from the video...turns out I already had a page on the holographic universe...but it's not a tier two...

...this is the advice that I have been looking for...and will probably lead me to a complete re-design of my tier sturcture...COOL!

THANKS again...I really appreciate the feedback...you are AWESOME!

Yoopersmith... I was just listening to your home page consciousness video.

I liked it, but at the same time I was also thinking "I already know even more than these guys do!" I say this because of how much I have been reading about consciousness.

If you are interested in consciousness, you could read some books by David R. Hawkins. He combines spirituality with consciousness and some science in a very interesting way. His books have changed my life completely... so if you decide to read them, watch out

If it interests you, you could start with his first book on the subject of consciousness, Power Versus Force.

Hey Curtis...THANKS! for the feedback...I see where you are coming from...I guess I am hoping the SOME folks will find this fresh...I can always update as needed...I'm like you...the information in the video was not new to me...but still interesting.

I read Power vs Force a couple years ago and loved it...I will look for new titles by him...perhaps I will re-read Power vs. Force and write up a review...his work definitely fits into my niche...

Thanks again for the feedback.

Well done Yooper, I really like the improvements you made to your homepage!! I have a small quibble with the grammar when people write like this.... with lots of dots... and ditch real punctuation.... (Am I a nagging cow or what! ) I find that style harder to read even though it is meant to be conversational - because I don't know where each idea/sentence begins and ends. And when I'm meant to stop and digest a fact. Maybe that's just my way of processing words, take from that what you want - after all it's YOUR site!

The main point is, you share lots more concepts about consciousness on your homepage now and that is GREAT!

Rebecca,

Nice to see you after all these months. I have not been in this forum, for me
it is very addictive, and since I have a lot of work to do, I just can't allow
myself to spend much time in forums

...you know what I am talking about...Create More Content !!!

...this is what I am focusing on, and the next three to four months will be
all about

Once my site is complete with all the monetization models working to create
daily revenue, I will take a part of the day for different forums that I really
like to read and post in (especially this one) and allow myself the pleasure
of spending a few hours per day exchanging information with wonderful
people like you and many others in here and in other forums that I find to
be my cup of tea

================================================== =======

Yoopersmith,

as far as these topics of quantum physics and consciousness and everything
that has to do with it, here is my opinion

these subjects are advanced and most people should master the basics and
fundamentals in their lives and once this is accomplished move on to the
advanced stuff

when advanced strategies become a substitute for living and creating what
truly matters to us we waste a lot of time living in our minds and not really
accomplishing much in real life

this is what I have noticed during the last 26 years of studying self-
development and self-help information.

When you try to use advanced strategies without having mastered the basics
and fundamentals it always backfires, because in reality most of this stuff is
in the area of the *unknown* and *mystery*

but of course, we as human beings want answers for everything, we also
made up beliefs about certain Gods, and fight wars and kill people because we
believe our God is better or more right than your God....etc

as far as an online business this might be a profitable niche, because a lot of
people are searching for *something* that will bring meaning to their life,
and these topics definitely attract many folks that understand that there is
more to life than what they are currently doing, and trying one thing after
another is the technique they use

when in reality all that you really have to know is what your *truly desire and
what you truly want* and for some reason this is not what most people that
I know and work with are focusing on

concerning making your SBI site more profitable, to build a strong foundation
for your site these are the most important steps in my opinion:

1) using Brainstorm It find the most profitable keywords possible for your
niche, if you do not have anymore credits, purchase 100 more for $20, this
will be the best investment that you can make

2) work on getting the strongest possible links to your site, not so much from
directories, but from high PR sites with massive traffic that can link to your
site

3) write articles to the best article directories, like ezinearticles.com and
buzzle.com, these are sites that get the highest SERP in Google for articles
that are on their sites, compared to many other sites

this should create a strong foundation and when you are done with these
three steps you can plan the next ones

...also watch the Action Guide and also read the printed version on a regular
basis, these are the basics and fundamentals of building a profitable online
business and not just a *site*

many people do not realize the importance of the information in the Action
Guide, and maybe watching it once forget it forever, which eventually leads
to their downfall (not all, just many)

well that is it for now, if this helps any, maybe I can think up of some other
things based on my six months of working on my site and 350 e-book that
I am about to start selling for 10 hours per day, 7 days a week

Hi thank you for sharing useful information,I was in the same boat till I found experienced business professionals who not only helped me but were great as experienced Business Coaches. They offered so many benefits with successful strategies, how to deal with obstacles and starting problems, how to access businesses for sales, how to prepare a business plan and will also solve the myths of easy business financing. And when I'm meant to stop and digest a fact. Maybe that's just my way of processing words, take from that what you want - after all it's YOUR site!

The main point is, you share lots more concepts about consciousness on your homepage now and that is GREAT!
Rebecca...THANKS! Ok...I love that you called yourself a nagging cow...I lived in England for 3 years (2000-2003) while in the Air Force...I miss that version of English...

BTW. As you can see...I am hooked on the dots...Embrace the truth.

THANKS for the help and feedback, I will try to keep the ... to a level that leads to understanding.

CHEERS!

Jeff

as far as an online business this might be a profitable niche, because a lot of
people are searching for *something* that will bring meaning to their life,
and these topics definitely attract many folks that understand that there is
more to life than what they are currently doing, and trying one thing after
another is the technique they use
RIGHT! I just need to tap into what words they are searching on....

when in reality all that you really have to know is what your *truly desire and
what you truly want* and for some reason this is not what most people that
I know and work with are focusing on
WOW! So true...amen brother.

concerning making your SBI site more profitable, to build a strong foundation
for your site these are the most important steps in my opinion:
Quote:
1) using Brainstorm It find the most profitable keywords possible for your
niche, if you do not have anymore credits, purchase 100 more for $20, this
will be the best investment that you can make
I'm working that bit...I have plenty of credits...THANKS.

2) work on getting the strongest possible links to your site, not so much from
directories, but from high PR sites with massive traffic that can link to your
site
Right...I am mostly done with the peer sites and now on the look out for high PR sites...

Quote:
3) write articles to the best article directories, like ezinearticles.com and
buzzle.com, these are sites that get the highest SERP in Google for articles
that are on their sites, compared to many other sites
Ok...I will try that out...THANKS!

...also watch the Action Guide and also read the printed version on a regular
basis, these are the basics and fundamentals of building a profitable online
business and not just a *site*
Good advice...all of it...I love the action guide...will do...THANKS!
