I have Amazon on my site money100 where I have chosen over 40 books and 20 CD's/DVD's all on money and personal development to sell through Amazon. To date apart from myself and some friends, no one has bought any. I am not sure why? Are people unsure how to use it? (Just click on money100 store above or below the books on the home page) Any thoughts? |

I wouldn't expect anybody to buy your Amazon products. You're not adding any value, so people have no reason to click through your links. Consider doing reviews of some of the books: Spiritual Book Reviews Give people a REASON to buy the books... don't just link to them and expect people to buy. This was the same problem I had originally. Now, although I don't make a ton of money from Amazon... I am now making money -- because my reviews give people food for thought. |

I also agree that you should create value first and then expect someone to pay for it. People should feel that they can trust your recommendations and you should put it in a way that would sound that they would be much better off buying the book than not. Also, of course, you should have read the books yourself and be absoloutely convinced that they are the best products you can recommend to customers. |

Instead, just create a section called "Book Reviews" and then just write there, and have the links alongside the books. Also, a hint of advice - be sure to point out criticisms of the books as well. For example, some finance books may be perfect for people with six figure incomes but less practical for people making under $40k / year. Or some might be better suited for people in management positions vs. subordinate positions... The point being, find the critical faults in the books in addition to the strengths, and you'll do two things: 1) Build trust. People will know that you're not just blowing smoke up their rear. 2) Increase sales. Why do critical reviews increase sales? Because when people read them, they're usually putting themselves into one of two categories: The people who resonate with your perceived strengths of the book, and those who don't. Those who resonate with it will then be able to decide if they can "live with" the critical aspects of the book. If on the other hand, you were to just talk great things about the book then people don't do the categorization. They just think you think it's a great book, but don't know why THEY should buy it. If you've ever read an internet marketer's email or sales letter and they have that one line that says: "If you are a person who likes XYZ, then this program is NOT for you..." That's what they're doing. They're effectively getting all the people who dislike XYZ to say, "Yeah but I like it... so maybe this program is right for me. I'll keep reading." So anyway, long story short: - Make reviews - Make them easily accessible - Include elements that are critical | |
