Smile What could I do with learning Spanish?

My old Spanish-classes appear to have stuck pretty well ("learning in your sleep," and all that), and I might as well pursue it further: Spanish sounds funny, anyway.

What sort of business is lead to by knowing Spanish, eh?

It's second in popularity to English and some 20 countries use it, so could be handy.

You could be a translator via the Internet or a Spanish-speaking country. You could also work at an embassy which uses the language, a spanish-events club, a Spanish/Mexican restaurant, a tutor/sub-teacher at a local school, and so on.

Reach out and let your name be known if you're really good. Keep a network/contact list and make sure businesses (airports, police stations, hospitals, etc) know you can do near-emergency translation for them if there's an issue (Spanish-only speaking person) and that you have very reasonable rates.

TLDR; There are so many options. Start searching, ask any Spanish-speaking friends where they would find having an interpreter to be important if they were struggling with English.

Edit: As a note, I love languages. Spanish is something I'm working on as well, though a bit slowly right now. I'm also pondering learning Finnish before Chinese or Russian. So many fun languages!

Korean!

Mmm, reminds me of homemade Kimchi. I have a really good recipe for it; pm me if you'd like. Actually I wanted to learn it about a year or two ago and still do but it's on the backburner for now. I knew a REALLY good site for Korean...hmm.

*goes through hundreds of bookmarks*

How about I link you this place and you can pick whatever language resources you want to your heart's content? =)

Quite a few companies in Texas pay more to English/Spanish bilingual employees due to the huge Hispanic population.
