 |  Earning money through freenalnce website development?
I used to be quite good at programming though I've never seriously worked with websites before. Do you think it's realistic to earn income through developing websites with all the competition I'd face? |

I am not succeeding at it. I was a web developer at a couple of major corporations. But I'm not all that terribly great at the design side. So I'm struggling with it. It's sad because I've seen some of the awful coding some of these designers have done. Even sometimes their designs are awful. But people respond to eye-candy more than they do to things that work.

It's possible to make a alright living freelancing, but if I could start over I'd skip that and just build products for myself -- websites and applications that have actual revenue. When you have a decent portfolio going, you'll be making a lot more than you could freelancing.
