Default Blog and persistence

Hi,

I just about starting a blog, but I have absolutely no skill, and noone will never know about it for quite a while(12 hits so far lol).

After reading Steve's Calibration article, I thought of aquiring a new skill that I actually like.

So what I'm asking you is to rate the content and tell me if it's of any use to continue on this particular journey: My overall goal is to one day make money from my blog, but I'm still 18 and in highschool so I didn't feel like starting a bussiness just yet.
Story of my life blog.

When is "one day"?
One year? Three years? Five years? Ten years?

....and how much by one, three, five or ten years?

$100 per month
$1,000 per month
$10,000 per month

Clarity is key. If you want to make $100 per month then you could probably find 1,000's of other bloggers to model, mentor and achieve this outcome. If you want to make $1,000 per month, you would have to tighten your belt and find a smaller niche of bloggers to model, mentor and achieve that outcome.

Either way, you have to be clear on what it is you want.

One thing there's NO use in is rating your content this early. You're taking your first wee baby steps in the world of blogging, so just play with it and see how it goes. WHATEVER you'll do at this point will probably look funny to you six, twelve, twenty four months down the road. That I promise you.

So just get into it. Have fun, learn from the experienced folks (there's probably more to it than you expect right now) and just - as they say - take it from there.

I'm sure you've already read Steve's posts on blogging, and also picked up that he recommends Blog Tips to Help You Make Money Blogging - ProBlogger as a resource to learn more about the subject. I've learned a ton from that site myself (I just wish it showed ), so I definitely think you should subscribe to it if you're not doing so already.

Good luck!

I can relate to you, because I am also young, 21 this month. I have been working on my blog for about 4/5 months now and its coming along great. You must just keep learning and experimenting, and post every day.

Use social sites like
twitter
friend feed
delicious
reddit
DIGG
Mybloglog
Stumbleupon

The best of luck

Your goal one day is to make money from a personal blog?

Well it can be done, however for that you need to have a very strong presence in a particular niche, like Steve has in self development; Shoe Money and John Chow have in online business etc. Other wise not many would want to follow a personal blog because it will bring them no perceived value and without this “perceived value” you will have to mainly rely on search engines and other marketing tactics to bring you fresh traffic, as you wouldn’t be able to garner dedicated viewer ship.

However, if you are writing or at least trying to write in a professional manner about a niche that you are interested and active in, then you have limitless possibilities and as your blogging skills improve, those possibilities would also.

So my suggestion would be to either write a personal blog which is basically an online journal being written to air your views and not made to make money, or target a specific niche and start a blog about it and work towards increasing its revenue.

Hey

As someone already said here, you should make a clear decision wheter you want to make money from your blog or just have it as a hobby, because this decision determines your further focus.

Remember Steve's article about creating and delivering value? That's where your focus should be if you really want to make money from your blog -- on creating and delivering value.

I suggest you not just only write on your personal experiences or problems, but also about the solutions to these problems, and to write longer articles.

For example,if you are writing about masturbation addiction, write about why you'd like to quit this habit, write about what harmful aspects do you see in it and what good aspects do you see in it,and write about what solutions you tried and what solution finally helped you. That kind of writing would be the way to deliver value for people with the same problems - especially when you see that there's not so much useful info about this in the web.

What about delivering value,I'd suggest you to invest time to know more about blogging, traffic, ways to make money from your blog and so on - problogger.com is a good resource for that.

Also I suggest so called modelling - when you see the person who is getting the result you want to have, try to see what is it in that persons thinking that made him more succesful than others, and then copy that pattern of thinking.

I guess for you that person would be Steve, but please understand me correctly - modelling is NOT rehashing a content or something like that, and it is not becoming a clone of Steve Pavlina.

It is following advices from people you are modelling.Adopting creating and delivering value mindset would be a good example of that.

Remember, that there is no use in reading theory and not applying it - that won't bring you any results.

BTW,I'm 19 years old too,and I'm working on my personal development blog too (..it isn't launched yet),and it would be interesting for me to get in contact with young (..or young at heart ;P ) people who also want to make money from blogging or are already doing that

If some of you who are reading this post now are interested in having a nice chat about blogging and life too, don't be shy - find me on facebook by my email spalvotakepure@gmail.com,or just drop a message to my email with your contacts ;P

Hip hip hooray!

Aleksander Krstic,

At your age of 18, you've done a good start. However, PERSISTENCE is a great word to success not only blog but all area of your life.

You will not continue working on your blog with persistence if you are falling into few symptoms. I've one post that you may get some idea to your further success.

Purpose in life VS. Persistent in works

All the best.

Your blog says that you are from Slovenia. I would recommend that you take a college level English class. That should improve your writing skills, spelling and sentence structure.

Also, find someone with more English experience and ask them to review your blog posts before you publish them. They would act as an editor for you. If you pay careful attention to their corrections, you can become a better writer.

Good luck.
