compete.com tells a different story: SnapShot of stevepavlina.com (rank #9,946) - Compete
I think there no reason to believe Alexa in this case.

Huh, wait... isn't Alexa supposed to be the gold standard of traffic rankings? What has the world come to!

Alexa's pretty screwed up these days. Compete is much better.

On a per site basis, Alexa is very inaccurate. I however don't know whether that effect averages out over multiple sites.

I think perhaps it has something to do with Steve removing the ads? Or maybe he hasn't been posting as much good articles lately?

I think Alexa has gone from bad to worse over these last few months or so. Their stats tend to be fairly inaccurate. Not that you can trust compete, though....

A few months ago there was some talk (which I honestly didn't pay a lot of attention to) of Alexa no longer taking into account traffic from social media sites like Digg and Stumble etc, which might explain the seeming drop in traffic for this site. I can understand the reasoning behind such a move, though, as social media traffic tends to largely be a waste of time and money as far as advertisers are concerned. Each UV simply isn't worth as much as someone coming from, say, a search engine. In a word, the traffic is, well, crap.

It looks like there was a big spike right around the '10 Reasons You Should Never Have A Religion' article..

but then dropped off after that.

Wonder if that's accurate, or why that would be?

Also btw, regarding religion, that's like water for the soul. People generally don't want to have an essential taken away from them, however faulty, without a proper substitute or replacement.

I think the majority have Google toolbar installed instead of Alexa toolbar, so this can be more accurate: Google Trends for Websites: stevepavlina.com
