Do you want a job or to start a business? What type of lifestyle do you want to live? How much money do you want to earn? What are you naturally talented at?

Now that I am in my 40s, I realized that I should have followed my path - that is, anything that would relate to human communication like blogging. So my advise? Answer the last question. What do you really want to be someday? If you will get a course that is "in" today to have you some money tomorrow, forget it. The time before you finish, another course will boom which will replacing the one who are taking.

Well you see my problem is I have too many interests. I am interested in business, economics, psychology, health/nutrition and social sciences in general. But I need to focus on some kind of major in order to get somewhere. (I like to plan early) I know that I will probably change my mind a million times as time goes on, but I don't care I still want to figure it out. I really just want to learn everything so I don't have to depend on anyone. I want to know how to run a business, I want to know everything about computers, and learn how to communicate better. But one class doesn't seem like it will suffice enough for me, I want to really proficient in as many areas as possible. I am most interested in psychology and health/nutrition area and treatment of disorders and understanding society. I could spend hours of my free time reading in this area. But going to school for a really really long time and not making a whole lot of money doesn't sound very appealing. Besides, I don't know if I want to be a psychologist...to stressful and I already am one. I want a job that takes hard work to get there and once I am there I fill accomplished by my hard work and have some money. I have a tendency to be a workaholic and I don't want my life to consist of that. I want to spend my life constantly learning new things and doing the millions of things I enjoy. I thought maybe research in health/clinical psychology might be interesting...but I don't what kinda of job that is or if they are even needed...For sure, I want business skills, without a doubt I know this much. I am planning to minor in management. But I also want to double major...but I want to do it all in four years because I don't have any money and jobs are scarce here.... ok so this is probably all really confusing...but now that you understand me a bit more. You could advise me....?

That's great! Young people like should have a lot of interests, as they will be your investment for your tomorrow. And it's good to be workaholic, too. However, you can't do all of them simultaneously. You just got to choose one for now, then as you grow older you can find opportunities on your other interests. As you have mentioned, you have some business skills so I would prefer doing something I think I am capable of. It's a good start. Consider me as an example. I am a licensed engineer with no relation to blogging. But through the years, I was not capable of growing myself into a deeper career related to my course. I think I reached my limitation so I gave up my job. Not that I surrender, but to find another career that I think I can do better. Hope that helps. |

You see, you can put your 'wants' into two different categories: 1) Something you want to do for yourself 2) Something you want to do for another Once you know what it is you want AND can find the reasons why, you'll be in great shape. Add to that a great feeling or sensation that you're following the right path then you will be unstoppable. Make no mistake of it. I once had a friend of mine say to me, "What are you business plans?" And I said, "I'm going to build my internet business for the next 3 years. Once I've done that I'm going to build a training company for speakers so that I can share my message." She replied, "Yeah, but 3 years is so long!" And I replied, "Is it really? If you think how advanced we are nowadays and how conscious people are becoming, you can really quantum leap the expiry date for us human beings. If you ask me, I think I'm going to live until I'm at least 150. Three years out of 150 just doesn't seem like such a big deal." If you get anything out of this then get this: more people overestimate what they can do in 1 year, but they underestimate what they can do in 5 years. Choose something, run with it and watch the magic happen. Not sure where to start? Give some thought to these questions: What are you curious about? What do you want to learn? What do you want to try?
