You may want to wait a few months until things settle down in the global markets. It's extremely volatile right now. In less than two weeks, I doubled my investment, then lost a third of it. You can lose your shirt if you're not careful. Last edited by catalyst; 10-30-2008 at 04:04 AM. |

I heard that you can try it online first, with virtual transactions, not with real money or actions. You can try it like that and learn a few things, than go and invest the real thing. Maybe someone can provide you more details about this - I only heard it from a friend who was doing it. |

I use TD Ameritrade to do my trading. It's actually very simple if you just want to buy and sell stocks. If you've never done it before though, there are sites where you can learn in a virtual market. I use UpDown.com, but since you can only trade stocks on it, I signed up for stocktrak.com since you can trade futures and options, but that one costs money.

Orange, from what I read from your posts, you need to find a site, such as investopedia.com & do some learning first. Like someone else said, I think you can setup a practice acct. This market isn't for the faint of heart.

[sigh] Orange, seriously: Stock trading isn't for children. Immaturity and ignorance might not have consequences on a message board, but in the real world, you can hurt yourself real bad. If you want to invest, try a quality mutual fund. You'll be buying professional management. Probably better: An index fund. ...assuming this isn't merely another one of your 15-second transient enthusiasms. |

Try TradeKing.com They are the cheapest discount broker on the web. Trades are only $5 apiece. Before you get started you should read more about stock investing and buying stocks online. It is fairly straightforward. Now is the time to buy. "be fearful when others are greedy, and greedy when others are fearful' |
