I really enjoy writing, and I've been looking at some ways to make extra money. I was recently contacted by a 9real life international!) publisher to write a book for them, after they read some of my online writing. Unfortunately, the deal fell through as the book they were planning to put together was moved to a different department. However, it made me think that my writing can't be ALL bad, if it impressed a publishing company enough to think about commissioning me. So I thought I might write an e-book. However, I don't really have any skills that I would feel comfortable pretending to be an expert on. These are some of the things I've done: 3 year English & Creative Writing course. Fairly good knowledge of English criticism and how to discuss books. Thought I could turn this into: How to talk about books: A guide for an English Student How to write a short story (or play / radio show etc. The problem with this is there's a mountain of brilliant advice already out there - for free) Webdesign (I'm a freelancer designer, and write standards-compliant code. However, I've never done formal training, and I don't think my knowledge competes with that of many other designers writing books and online articles) Some kind of nutrition / foods guide (I have always been interested in food and diet, and explored many different ones. I think it would be interesting to share what I've learned... maybe do a coverage of all different diets and their plusses/minuses. But there's ten million diet books/blogs/articles etc. out there already!) I wrote my dissertation on 'Gonzo Journalism' but I doubt any normal person wants to read about that |

You might explore Booksurge by Amazon as a way of publishing on demand and also getting into the Amazon system for additional sales. Happy trails! | |

I am going to try writing an on-demand, self-published book. Actually, I have already started. It seems worth a shot and it would be nice to have a real book to hold in my hands. Why not do that? You could write about anything, including Gonzo journalism. Someone out there would be interested in reading it.

I think it does not matter how many books are out there. Just write... You may turn out to be the best on the subject. You may also consider writing for new media & technology. Like a m-book for mobile phone technology. Have Fun |
