Please help me with some good business ideas that depend on no formal qualifications or trade. I want to work for myself now but only have one idea to run with which might not bring in enough $. I want another idea so I can have more of a chance of filling up my week. 1. Concierge Service; covers so many odd jobs from house-sitting, errands to lawn care. 2. |

What is your Passion in life.... what do you enjoy doing? If you know that then maybe your could earn from it. E.g. if you enjoy reading, then be a proofreader. If you enjoy writing, create a blog or short stories. If you enjoy nature, be a photographer.... Whatever you choose, you need to practice, practice, practice!

You need something to offer or sell. That needs to have some demand. You need to have the skills to provide that service or make that product. It is determined by your sense of oportunity. 2.SETUP You need: 1.Contacts: This will help you to establish your network. 2.Customers: Without htem your business is dead. 3.Suppliers: Provides the raw materials you need to work 4.Money: It allows you to buy what you need. You need enough money to withstand 2 years of losses, which is the initial period of investment. 3.PRICE At the beginning you should do some reaearch on market prices. Prices should cover your costs and allow some profit. Costs = Materials + Manpower (you) + Overhead Some people make a mistake and they do not consider themselves as a cost, but true is that you do not work for free. In the absense of information, do this: Price = Cost of materials * 3 Materials are the necessary assets that you need to provide service or manufacture product. Your business is about creating business relationships with customers. Do not abuse and do not let to be abused. MARKETING Dedicate half of your time to marketing.

If you're calling the shots, then you don't need a qualification; you don't exactly need to impress a boss to get hired.

Excellent replies there folks. Lets keep it going, many can benefit from this thread. So here is an advert I am thinking about placing (business name withheld) in papers for public feedback. Errands & Deliveries •Shopping, •Pick up & drop off •Mailing / distributing •Long distance courier (small packages to van loads) Labour •Fence & shed painting, •Lawn cutting Away From Home? •House sitting •Security checks •Pet care •Plant watering Technical Services •Basic pc help •website design & management •Video digitising & editing, •Research •Sorting •Data entry •Stock taking •Bulk copying & labeling •Event & Travel Planning Do you think its too "jack of all trades" and I should divide this into two or three different services (with different phone numbers), with the aim of course, to fill my week up with enough work / produce opportunities for extra income? My target is 300 pounds a week. Errand & Courier Service General Home Labouring Services; house-sitting to lawn mowing. Computer Basics Last edited by CallMeJones; 08-15-2008 at 12:20 PM. |
