Default The biggest mistake people make trying to create a business

hey hey, what's up.

It's ken, haven't been here in a while -- too busy having fun this summer. I actually went to a amusement park 17 times this summer (I know, I got no life, haha)

So today I wanna talk about 2 barriers that prevent people from making money -- you know, they're own "business" (internet or offline doesn't matter)

You see, it took me 2 FRIGGING YEARS to actually make a comfortable living on the internet. it's because I'm a dumb ass. But I wished someone gave me this advice earlier, because I would've found success sooner ...

The biggest barrier I would say is LACK OF GAME PLAN and INFORMATION OVERLOAD.

Especially on the Internet, cause holy ****, you got so many ways to make money, it's like a kid in a candy store ...

So here is my advice for aspiring entrepreneurs:

Learn the fundamentals, because it NEVER CHANGES. You can apply this to offline or online business.

And that is ... Learn how to get leads and convert them into buyers. That's it!

In internet lingo, it would be "getting traffics and montizing the traffic"

So if you strip everything down to it's core, it's all about getting qualified leads and converting them into customers.

If you wanna make some nice passive income on the Internet like Steve here (BTW, I like your new picture on the front page Steve, I love your hip haircut)

Just start off with direct response marketing ... you put up a simple 1 page website where you get the lead's email and then market to them over and over again via email. I mean, it's not hard to aim for $1500/ a month doing it during your spare time.

What's $1500/month good for? Beer money right? So yeah.

Forget all the technical ****, just focus on the basics: get leads and convert into buyers.

Anyways man, I'm half drunk right now, this is all. If you got any questions, I'm more then happy to help you, just post here or PM me.

PS: I know my grammar sucks, I failed grade 11 English, don't diss me

Might I add: Don't look "too big, too fast". Be willing to start small and make no income for awhile. Let it build. DEEPEN the business and let the market WIDEN it.

Where was the advice in this thread?

Oh wait, "Don't post anything while drunk as it'll come out as garbage."

Perhaps if you actually went over the 'basic fundamentals' it would have been useful. I learned nothing else in here other than you like amusement parks.

Zwynd, I'm sure when he's sober he'll come round and actually post those fundamentals instead of just drunkly raving on about... stuff.

Ok, well that stuff sort of made sense but still, why do it when your drunk?

If my drunkanese translation is any good, I think he said "find people and sell things to them" - genius!

I help beginners build online businesses, so those are the type I will speak about. The biggest mistake beginners make when starting an Internet business is they waste too much valuable time trying to find quick and easy shortcuts.

Too many of them think there are "secret" methods they can find which will quickly make them a good monthly income. They waste time and/or money on "systems" which could be spent learning and developing the basic skills required to succeed.

That sounds very true. I have found that my blog traffic and income respond to hard work on content. They don't responed to anything I have tried that involves some clever SEO/social networking trick. And its not the tricks themselves that waste the time- it is all the optimistic checking figures and looking at stats to see if anything has happened. It never has.

That's for sure! Beginners waste a lot of time "counting their chickens before they hatch".....as my Mother always warned me about.

I am a Certified Business Coach and Network Marketer and can tell you that I wasted a lot of time in my first year on nothing but busy work. I had information overload like you can't believe. Then it all became crystal clear to me one day and I focused on two things.

The 1st thing that you must do is drive traffic to your site. For me that meant I choose 3 things and did them consistently. The three things that I choose were PPC, writing articles and buying high quality leads. There are at least 30 other things that you can do to market yourself online but I chose those because I could automate them and they got serious results.

The 2nd thing that you must do is follow up with your leads consistently. That should be by autoresponder and by phone for high ticket items or business opportunities.

I spend time on both of these things just 4 days a week and have more than replaced my income as a Regional Finance Manager.

The other thing that I would say is that you have got to BELIEVE in your product or service and it must help others in some way. Don't just say "hey internet marketing seems interesting and profitable so I am going to do what everyone else does". That won't work but follow your passions and your values and you are well on your way to wealth and abundance.

Answer to Horsephone private message............

Yes, I went with the flow and did good because I gave them what they wanted.......by pure luck.

Back in 1992 I hurt my hand and the Doc told me to excercise my hand by squeezing something.........so......I place some flour in a ballon, tie the end in a knot and then cut off the end.

A friend of mine saw it and wanted one, next day he told me that his wife wanted one..........three days later the wife told me that she wanted ten of them for the people in her office and was willing to pay me for them.

SHASAMMMMMMMMMMMM I saw the light heheheheheehhehe, I made a bunch of them and took them to the swap meet and made $285.00 on the first day with $240.00 being clear money.

Next I placed them on consignment on stores but that did not worked because the public wanted to many of them so that I had to increase the consignment from one box,25 units, to one gross 144 each.

A funny story........this guy went to the store and bought 14 of them and when asked why he told them "Every time I take one to work and leave it on my desk someone steals it so that now I am buying one for everyone" hahahahahahahaha love it.

I also had to go to drivers school because of a speeding ticket........when I went in I gave the instructor one of them and for the whole intructional class he was playing with it, at break time someone asked him where he got it and he pointed me out.........they guy was a buyer for Long's Drug Stores and right there he gave me a contract for 500 gross of them......cost of the class? $65.00......sold to Long's Drug Stores? $3,200, it was a good day

Next I went to the big trade show in Vegas and as the old saying goes "The rest was history".

I even took two other companies to court for makig a copy of my display box and product.........for the product I could do nothing about it but for the copywriting of the display box yes....... they both settled before going to court.

Not bad for a dunm Cuban refugee with a 10th grade education.

By the way: An article in a newspaper called it "The next Pet Rock".
