Default legitimate ways to make money online

Are there any legitimate ways to make money online that require no start-up?

Try Blogging! Good content and good promotion will bring traffic to your site and your ads (e.g. Google Adsense) can earn you money. Just look at Steve's blog and his articles on blogging for a prime example!

Or take a look at Paul Piotrowski's InspiredMoneyMaker blog. Here is his June's earnings report

Whats more, if you're passionate about something, you'll love blogging about it, and it is an ethical, legitimate and legal way of earning cash!

There are a lot of ways to start up with very little cost.

However, a "little bit" of money is a lot easier than "no money".

For example, you might need to spend $9 on a domain and $9/month on a good hosting partner.

If that's all you have + time it's doable.

Of course if you can find about $100-$200/m to invest into your online website/Blog, that would be super helpful and well worth the investment.

However you can get pretty far on a shoestring budget nowadays.

Affiliate programmes are a good way. There are many for personal development. You basically get to sell other people's products and make commission from any sales you can generate.

One of the easiest ways of making money on the internet is to set yourself up as an affiliate. But it doesn't mean to say that you sign up with every single affiliate program and then spam everyone!

The best affiliate programs are the ones that give you good promotional material, not just banner ads, but brandable eBooks and reports for example where you imbed your affiliate link inside and ones that give you specific step-by-step instructions on how to promote.

Here's a very good tattoo affiliate program that I'm using that's making me about $50 a day;

You can always do something with no start up, its just harder. Dont forget the Good, Fast, Cheap diagram.

You can only have two, so if you want a good, fast business it wont be good...or a good, cheap business, it wont be fast...

Hi,

I really recommend when starting an online business that you have a bit of start up capital. $200 would be a minimum I'd recommend to get yourself the essentials like a domain name, hosting account and autoresponder.

A good idea is to write an eBook on an area of your expertise and then start selling it.

Hope This Helps,

Kenny

I read some of the threads here about ways to make money on-line but the information is so sketchy, I can't figure out where to go with it.

For instance, there are a number of posts where people say the answer is "affiliates." I haven't the slightest idea how to pay somebody $9 a month to set up as an "affiliate" that will bring me some on-line income, and I can't seem to find the information except in websites advertising the opportunity -- and I don't know if those are legitimate or not.

Honestly, I don't care if it's something I love or not, if it's something that's boring, if it's something where I'm "only" doing it for money.

Is there anyone here who can explain how to set up as an affiliate? Or steer me to a site which is legit, where I can send them nine bucks and I'll actually get a monthly income from it?

Hi Rosie,
There are many legitimate ways to make money online. If you have a topic you find interesting and feel very passionate about, then you're off to a good start. Consider blogging. You can monetize your blog but don't think so much of the money at this point. If you keep doing what you really love, then the bucks will start rolling in. Trust me, it takes time, but it's worth waiting. To get started, I would recommend visiting problogger.net. This is the best resource for aspiring bloggers on the net.
If you don't have the time for blogging, then I think Affiliate Marketing would be the best path to take.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Ted

You see what I mean

Is everyone around here so completely well-versed in Affiliate Marketing that it's all that needs to be said, with no explanation whatsoever of how to get started?

You will find all the info you need on wikipedia. It's an amazing source that is overlooked by the majority of people.

Thank you!

Ok. Here is what I would like. I'd like for somebody to show me an affiliate marketing website (or more) where I can spend $9 and have money showing up in minutes. Or at least days. Where somebody walks me through it or better yet, it's automatically set up for me. Is this possible, the way Marta mentions above? There are like 200 trillion websites out there promising to do this, and I have no idea if any of them are legit or not, such as the link I posted earlier.

When I started on eBay, a friend came over and showed me how to set it up. This was before they streamlined everything, so to make anything look good, you had to know some HTML or else you got a big block of unformatted text. You had to make sure photos were smaller than a certain size or eBay couldn't take them. It looked a little overwhelming, but we got something listed that afternoon and I had a bid within about an hour.

This is what I'm looking for in an affiliate marketing site. Is that possible, or have I got it all wrong?

Somebody get this set up for me and I'll send you a 20% commission at the end of August

From what I understand, the steps are as follows:

1) Choose product to promote

2) Create (mini)website with sales page
-domain name
-hosting
-Custom build pages (HTML) or download website template
-Shopping cart + paypal setup

3) Market your site + product (generate relevant traffic to your site)
-Google search engines (adwords, SEO etc)
-Forums
-Promote
