Hello to all, Today I have started up a site called: Becoming Rich with AdSense. To be found at Becoming Rich with AdSense The general idea behind the blog is to keep a journal of my journey and to write various tutorials about everything that gets my weblog successful. As it is my first blog ever I still have to learn about everything on blog promotion, blog writing etc. I got the idea of writing a blog from this forum, after reading a few posts in this section. What other than to write about the way I'm planning to make money? Indeed, I'm planning to make it very successful and am very enthusiastic about it! Because I still have to learn nearly everything I want to ask you guys: what is the best way for blog promotion and are there already things to be changed necessarily at my blog? And last but not least, does this blog have the potential to become really successful? Thanks for your time and I'm awaiting your replies, Jeroen Brouwer |

| Blog Tips to Help You Make Money Blogging - ProBlogger (the book is good too) Tip: Find a better niche for your blog! The "how to get rich with adsense" schtick has been done to death already (and, frankly, better than what you did). You need to be more original... Good luck! |

Thanks for your reply. Yes as it seems there are lots of other people writing about it, but millions of people are writing blogs. I assume by now almost any topic has been covered by someone. Does it really make a difference blogging on another niche? The link you provided contains some useful information, thanks for that! Last edited by Brouwer; 06-24-2008 at 07:12 AM. Reason: typo |

Could it be successful? Maybe. But you will have to give people reasons for visiting your site over other sites on the same topic (people referred to as probloggers). Until you start making serious money from the site you will have no credibility so I think that would make it tough. But if you go from knowing nothing to making a lot then that could be something. However that are quite a few sites doing the same thing (after they have already made successful sites). I would strongly recommend you do your research. You have gone for a freely hosted site on blogger without your own domain name? Why choose this over self-hosting? Good luck. I don't know whether self-promotion with your first post on a forum is the best move either. |

The niche of your blog makes all the difference. Yes, there are millions of blogs out there, but the (financially) successful ones all have one thing in common: their subject matter and how they present it is not generic. "How to make money with AdSense" is about the most generic theme one might think off. You can do better! |

Not a bad idea. Therre are a lot of people interested in this topic. The real issue is, what value you are going to provide to your visitors? I'll visit your site occasionally to see how your are doing. letusgrow.blogspot.com |

Thanks all for your comments. @JimOfferman: I think you are right about the generic part of the subject. But I still think it could get quite profitable. However, you have me started thinking about creating another blog with a much better niche. One about 'learning maths', as that is something I'm good at. Though, I'm doubting whether that has some potential. Can't really imagine a lot of people being enthusiastic about the subject. @Jarrod: this is my first time ever blogging so it's more a test on whether it's possible making money, with only free tools at hand. @javed: cool to see someone interested. The value I'm going to provide is by creating tutorials/articles on the things that have worked out for my blog, so that people can use those things too - My first tutorial has just been put online! - |

| Okay, let me put it more plainly then. Here's your catch 22: your blog is about doing something that you think could be profitable. Ergo, the credibility of your blog: zero. Why would anyone be interested in the AdSense money making advice from a guy with no experience in said field? Once you have built a profitable AdSense blog then you can give advice to other people (perhaps in the form of yet another profitable AdSense blog). Quote:
That's still about 140,000 people who take an interest in your subject! Sounds like a lot to me!

Yes, your explanation is crystal clear. Though, I'd to try to continue and see where the ship washes ashore. Hopefully my credits will accumulate soon About the niche blogs, do any of you have "weird"-subjected blogs, like my "learning maths"-subject, that's being successful? |

Thanks simonsta! I want to ask you a few things if I may so. What do you think of the content on the blog? What do you think of the layout? And finally, what makes you follow this site and not one of the many others as other users have said there are? Thanks in advance and any other user feel free to comment too Yours sincerely, Jeroen Brouwer |

The hardest part was bootstrapping it at lightning speed. I got to the top of Google ("becoming a millionaire with adsense") in 6 days, and had 13 keywords putting me at the top after 2 weeks, but much tweaking and a lack of a backup (the dumbest mistake I've made) undermined some of that work, so now I'm rebuilding. The three tips I can't enforce enough are: 1. Schedule your posts to release an article on a regular basis. That way, you can work for one evening a week typing it up and the whole thing runs on auto-pilot for the rest of the week. 2. Backup your template whenever you change it, and keep the last known working template to fall back on. 3. Promote. Promote. Promote! I'm just approaching my first $100, which is a bit below where I hoped to be, but I forgot to account for weekend dips in traffic, so I've reduced my posts as well from 7 to 6 a week (because Sunday is also a Monday across the dateline where about half my traffic seems to come from). That means I get an extra 4 or 5 posts per month to add to the backlog of scheduled releases. Hope that helps. Cheers, Jase

Really nice helping post coulls, thanks. I will visit your page regularly too, it seems to have some quality content. Can't learn enough on blogging, since there is so much to learn. Hopefully my blog hits the 100$ mark somewhat sooner! Sent you a PM too, in case you didn't notice. (email notification is switched off by default I believe) Thanks javed, putting a lot of effort into it Quote:

I am impressed with your Google ranking, and the site looks appropriate. I.e., anyone visiting it will think 'I could do this'. Are you getting many clicks? I would have thought that the kind of people who visit a website like that from google are likely to be quite keen on clicking on get rich quick adverts so it could be quite lucrative. |

| Yes it does. Our friend Brouwer has been at it less than a month and I think he should be applauded for actually doing something. How many people talk about setting up a website or blog and never get to the actual keyboard stage? I would love to see what Darren Rowse's offering looked like when he had only been going a few weeks. It is tempting to say, well now there are so many websites about blogging that there isn't room for any more. But who knows where this will end up? It may end up just as successful as Steve or Darren - but if it does it will be completely different. |

Thanks for your support beautyscientist. I know that the market for money making blogs is a bit saturated but I believe I can make my blog successful, original and inviting to stay at for a long time. And if it ultimately doesn't happen I've had a good time and still learnt a lot. As of my revenue still in to clear the 10$ but that should happen fast as I'm about to hit the 50UV a day mark and revenue has been growing ever since. |

Hi I am familiar with blogging and with adsense and have to say I became disinterested halfway down the page. Not an insult, just giving a constructive critique. It's already been said that adsense is a used up niche and I agree. The blog itself goes from your introduction straight into your experiment. If I were a newcomer to adsense or blogging I would be instantly lost. Try ordering the info you present in a logical step by step order. Then compile that into an e-book or mini-course that you could sell. You really have to set yourself up as an expert if you want people to follow. Best wishes for success! |

Thanks for your reply. I agree with your comment and I'm working on a clear navigation of my page. In the introduction there are a few directions for the newbies but they are still vague at this moment. Hoping to get this done by the end of the week. Do you really think people would pay for an e-book that contains most of my tutorials yet available and some extras? If so how much can I charge for something like that, if not what do I need to add? And finally how can I setup a decent payment method then? Hope to hear from you soon. Yours sincerely, Jeroen Brouwer |

Having the first skill is very valuable and could make a good blog. The second probably doesn't help much. There are a lot of people out there who needs to learn math at school or university. If you can give them a fun way to learn there math do you really think that there is no market? If your blog is boring the problem is your lack of ability to deliver your topic. There are a huge number of people who don't understand some math thing and google after it to understand it. Probably more than people who both know what a blog and what adsence is. xkcd - A webcomic of romance, sarcasm, math, and language - By Randall Munroe would be a totally niche blog that is successful.
