So I run an E-commerce niche. It does well...but not well enough. Anywhere from 1 thousand to 2k a month. Now, with all the tweaking I'm doing and other avenues I'm venturing into I expect to make some more but I don't think it will support the lifestyle that I ultimately want to live. Basically...selling retail items doesn't really offer extreme value. I've researched and identified the success patterns behind two major players in the personal development and lifestyle design genres. Steve Pavlina and Tim Ferriss. Basically..these two guys offer ultimate value. Without going into to much detail...How would you guys go about creating a blog/site that generated revenue as you travel throughout the world and reported on your adventures and findings? That's basically the approach I want to take. Offering massive value with articles, pictures, recordings...etc? |

What, you mean give you my secret plan? It's hard to offer real, substantial value when you're traveling. I think that to make traveling into a marketable blog you have to do something unique. For example I know someone who did / is doing 'choose your own adventure' style traveling. Basically he gets his readers to vote by polls on where he should go and what he should do. I wish I had the url handy but it's long gone. When you get right down to it, there are many, many writers, photographers, videographers, etc looking to document their travels. It's a dream job. So what can you offer that makes you stand out? I've got my super secret idea that I'm going to get going one day soon, but it didn't come easy. |

@Scumbag - what you've outlined is something that many, many people aspire to - including myself. There are quite a few blogs popping up that showcase people living a nomadic lifestyle. Two good ones are: Location Independent Living and The Life Nomadic. My suggestion for offering massive value in this genre is to: 1) Figure out how to live the dream 2) Share in great detail how you got there in ways that others can duplicate or model their behavior against If you can do that, you'll be a billionaire. BTW, you can live a great life on 1-2K per month in many foreign countries. Check the sites I just listed for evidence. |

Selling retail items can offer a lot of value, if you sell the right items to the right people and give them the right information. Value typically comes from helping someone solve a problem that's too hard for them to solve themselves (or more expensive than paying you). If you find problems that are even too hard for your competitors to solve, you'll have a real advantage.
