Question Need info about online JOB (not home-biz opps)

Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone knew about any online jobs, or where I could find one. I'm not looking for home business opps, I'm looking for an actual job. Y'know, do the work, get paid.

Maybe something like data entry, I suppose.

Have you looked at elance.com and similar? Technically would make you a freelancer, but it's kind of a job.

Kinda hard to help you with job advice w/o knowing your skillset.

Work from home type jobs: Sales, tech support/call center, web design/admin, computer programming, any kind of graphic arts, ...

A good site for telecommuting jobs is Gil Gordon's site. It's kinda strange to navigate, but full of useful info. If this is kinda what you are looking for, let me know, and I'll see if I can dig up my old list of telecommute info.

You can try with elance.com like ahimel said, and also with rentacoder.com or getafreelancer.com

There are some successful people on these sites, but majority make nothing.

It is not easy to start freelancing without preparation. You need to learn some things before you start. Pavlina wrote some good articles about self employing, try some Google search too.

It is possible to have nice online job, but you need to learn how to do it.

Hello Epistis

You can acctually write articles for living. You will need to write 2 or 3 per day to make a living. You can write about any thing you want and I was told the sites that buy your articles are not very pick as long as you stick to their rules. You will need to google them but here is a couple of good sites that I know, they are not as complicated as Elance. You do have to write however not very advanced:

The People's Media Company - Associated Content
10,000 Hits
SQL Server Database Help, Tips, Tricks, Tutorials, Webcasts and More (SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, XML)

Thanks

Ali

Wow! For some reason, I wasn't emailed the updates to this thread..

I'm going to check up on some of your suggestions, and I'll let you know what I find out. Thanks for all the replies! (Keep 'em coming! )

BTW, I tried Getafreelancer a while back, with no success. Too much competition.

Well, because of that I told you need to learn more about freelancing first.

You can start with articles on Articles for coders

Articles are not just for programmers. Every of these web sites have jobs for designers, writers, artists, hardware specialists etc.

Getafreelancer and rentacoder where 2 of the sites i worked as a freelance graphic designer. People there work for ridiculous little money, there is just too much competition on that, and besides, buyers abuse you since they wont pay you until they get whatever they want from you, that means that you could spends 2 months working on a project that at first you thought could take you only one week, and the administrators only care about the people who put the money, not the people who works for them. I worked for a few month there, i made some money, but i learned my lesson to stay away from those sites. I dont know if working as a programmer would be the same though, i dont know your skills, but if you are a graphic designer, stay away, for your own good...
