Henry's Oct. Adsense Update (+$6.88) FYI to people who want to start a site and monetize it via advertising. For the 1st month of Adsense @ Binary Dollar was $6.88. I'm just now getting a *few* hits from search engines. My page rank is still 0. |
Actually that's a pretty cool result for the first month. Keep it up Henry! What promotion methods do you use? How do you generate traffic? BTW, I like your blog. |

I average about 29 visitors per day (not including myself). I want to improve my writing and consistency so my main promotional method is to write quality posts at least 5 times a week until January. That's my main short term goal. -h PS - My name is Henry. :) |

Hey there, Henry. I'm in the same boat. I'm also a new PF Blogger with a zero page rank. I haven't even tried to monetize my site yet. I really don't like AdSense and I don't get enough search engine traffic yet to justify it anyway. I'm hoping for a at least a 4 page rank after the next update, possibly a 5, but that's a stretch. I'm hoping I'll be able to sell some links after that point. I may explore adsense at that point as well. |

the ecpm of chinese adsense is really low, i checked from adwords keywords tool, chinese ads are mostly range around USD 0.05 while english keywords can easily at the price of USD1. Besides, there're two type of chinese encoding, Big5 (traditional chinese) and GB (simplified chinese). Big5 are used in places like Taiwan and HongKong while GB is used in China.. however, there's no Big5 advertisement from adsense... |

My understanding is that they update every three months. They just finished one at the beginning of October, so I'm guessing sometime around January. |
I´ve been blogging for little over a month now at Personal Development with The Positivity Blog. So far I´ve earned about 9 dollars through adsense. Besides Steve´s posts about building high traffic websites I really appreciate Make Money Online with ProBlogger Blog Tips for tips on how to create a better blog and generate traffic. I recommend checking out the Blogging for Beginners series at Problogger. I think it has saved me from making some common newbie-mistakes. Copywriting tips for online marketing success from Copyblogger is also excellent for writing better titles for your posts and writing better posts in general. What sites have you found useful for improving your blog? |

Henry, I like your site a lot man. I love the logo with the south park character, and I like your determination. I might read your site for the content too, because I'd like to get into the stock market game. I have to get some money first. Haha. Right now I owe my parents 100 dollars, so I have a little ways to go. Love Erock |

Haha. You should always read a site for its content :). You seem fairly young so compounding interest is in your favor. The earlier you start investing the better. A good starting point for you would be to a search on "index funds" if you want to get into the stock market game. You might also want to try mock investing with fake money over at Yahoo Finance to see how you'd do. |
Solid starting adsense return I've been very fortunate to have a tremendous start with my blog. I brought in $100 through adsense in the first month (August). My total to date is over $200. In fact, I'm using part of those earnings to pay for Steve's blogging seminar next Saturday. I had used the intention manifestation techniques Steve outlined on his blog and had visualized earning a $100 dollar check. I didn't think it would be manifest so quickly. Now I'm working on $500 :-). Despite my quick success I know very little about how to optimize adsense. Any suggestions or links to useful guides would be welcome. I'm also feeling like I could potentially sell ad space directly. I have over 10,000 hits a month right now. What kind of additional advertising revenue opportunities are appropriate at that level? I'm excited about this forum and look forward to any feedback people can give me. |

Everyone visit Sam's site. It's sweet. |
Thanks for the compliment Thanks for the compliment. I've been fortunate so far. I only write about once a week but try to focus on well-written, detailed articles. I'd love to write more but can only dedicate one night a week to it (plus some spill-over for longer posts). I have a full-time job and an active two year old who goes to bed at 9:00. By the time he's in bed, I'm pooped. I just block out Tuesday nights to work solid from 7 to 12. Most importantly, I've loved every minute of it so far. While the adsense revenue is certainly nice and I'd love to grow it into a full-time thing, I started blogging with the number one priority of sharing my experiences to help people finally get control over their finances. My number two rule was that I would only do it if I found it enjoyable and worthwhile even if I never made any money. Finally, my number three goal was to make money and potentially replace or greatly supplement my existing income. These agreements with myself have made it a no lose situation. I'm excited to share ideas with like-minded people on this forum. I've read Steve's stuff since before there was a stevepavlina.com and he's been a source of inspiration for me. I hope to provide similar inspiration and help for people dealing with their personal finances. |
I started my site as a way to practice writing and to put my financial knowledge, goals, and status down on paper. It's neat watching everything evolve (writing, traffic, my financial status, my goals, etc). |

I still remember my first month revenue... it was $5.XX. 10 months later, I have made over $1000 with my blog. I know it's a dirt money when compared to what others are making, but still I'm happy as it's earning me passive income while I have a full time job. No thing that I have learnt is that you have to give give and give more without expecting anything in return. |

I also got my first carnival entry this week for my pf blog, which will hopefully generate some traffic. I've noticed several people submit to 2 or 3 carnivals, so I am going to try to do that as well. Like Henry (who does have a nice blog BTW), I try to visit a lot of others and I do comment often. Before I got serious I would rarely comment on anyone's blog even if I thought I had something to say. Now I do and it has helped bring traffic and awareness. I don't do it just for those reasons, but it does help, and I also try to answer all comments on my blog as well. |

The whole law did nothing but force these companies to get more creative. Oh yeah, and it also is forcing out the honest companies, and making the crooks a little sneakier. Good job, US. Just one more example of how more government equals fewer choices. |
