Default Making money on YouTube?

Does anyone know how to make money off of YouTube videos? I have two that are pretty popular, but just pointing people to my website in the description doesn't seem to be doing much for my bottom line. I thought I remembered hearing that they were going to start letting people put Google ads on their videos but I can't find any info about that now. One of my videos is at 250,000 views and seems to be climbing by about 1000 a day. If I could only make 10 cents off each view! Or a penny even!

Add your website's address to the beginning or the end of the video, kind of like the opening/closing credits thing. Is it too late to do that now?

I could resubmit them to include that, and perhaps I should, but I'm already getting hits from the URL I put in the description, and it doesn't seem to be making me any sales. In general people come to my website a lot but don't buy anything. I make most of my book sales through amazon, and the money I make from the website itself is just from Google ads and amazon referral commissions. The YouTube videos I mentioned are getting a lot more hits per day than my website, so that's why I was saying I wish I could make ad revenue from them.

Most people from Youtube usually are not in buying mode. You need to capture the traffic in a mailing list, RSS reader or whatsoever and try to sell them over time

Thank you! I checked it out. Unfortunately it only allows you to create a "video player" with other people's videos from their "premium content", with Google ads automatically generated at the bottom of it, and then you can put that on your own website. It won't let me monetize the videos on my own channel. Disappointing.

I agree with prasunsen,

It's a lot to do with your landing page.

tracyrtwyman,

May I ask what page you are sending your visitors to from YouTube?

Ideally there should be some kind of compelling headline to grab attention and call to action to create some sort of sale/lead capture, etc.
