I'm seriously considering setting up a kind of patronage system for my music. The idea is to sell subscriptions that offer early access to new songs and to exclusive content. Patrons would also receive a free copy of every new CD I put out during the time they are subscribed. - What do you think of this idea? - Would you consider becoming a patron (if you were a fan of my music)? - Why would you become a patron - just to get more stuff or because, as a patron, you are supporting me and my music? - What else would you expect or like in return? Thanks! Jim.

Sex! And you'd have to teach all my children to play the clavichord, plus you'd have to perform at my balls. No, wait, I was having a past-life regression there, sorry. That sounds like a great, generous program, one your fans would be delighted to take part in. It sounds very "green" or maybe there's a better word for the new, self-promoting approach -- one that people would feel good about participating in. I don't think you'd need to throw in any more stuff to make it worthwhile; but maybe you could include little tidbits when you are inspired to do so.... just whatever little extra fun synchronistic stuff comes up that you are happy to share with your fans and make them feel special. It's a great idea, Jim. |
