 |  Sometimes You Lose not because of Incompetence
There are many things you need to do right to be a successful business. The number 1 is competence -- you increased your chances if you are much better in what you do than most people. for instance, if you really are a very good cook, then your chances to succeed rapidly increases. However, there are also other factors, like this toon illustrates. sometimes you just can't win them all!

| Looked good in the window but not on me!
Oracle to folks funded by Gates... that's funny! Reminds me that sometimes as technical competence goes, it's not the only thing to keep your eyes peeled out for. Knowing what my clients' interests, motivations and general way of doing things can go even farther than flexing that strong technical know how to start a new client relationship. I won't buy a new outfit if I really like the color but doesn't fit right!
