my mother was talking about it to me over the phone...so I thought I would at least ASK if anyone here has had any huge success with eBay? More specifically.... How much success have you had with an eBay Store?? How much success have you had with simply auctioning on eBay? ...And anything else I may have missed... please take note: this isn't another one of my business ideas that I pull out of the air--this is just a general inquiry... |

Hey, Well ive had a lot of success from my ebay selling, although i stopped selling online as i like to work on things that develop me. The ebay selling was just a stepping stone towards my goals. You dont need an ebay store however to sell big time on ebay. I Used to sell dvds and anything else i can find at a lower cost then normal. I think it depends on the product/service you sell if you want to open the store. If by store you mean those ebay shops, that put all your listings into a shop like format where customers can search through all that you have, rather than the rest of ebay. My experience has been, to do market research on the prices all your competition are doing, and beat that, and also satisfy all the problems that might occur. For example, i knew dvds buyers worried about fake copies, about second hand dvds being sold as brand new, so i assured them of that in the listing very clearly, as well as offering them a refund if they are not satisfied. Few did try to take advantage of that, however overall i made some very loyal customers who always bought from me and nobody else. At the time i was on my first year of university when i started, so i never had time to work full time, i worked 3 days a week, and earned about £1000 profit every weekend (including friday) or more if i had some more free time to locate good products. Hope this helps |

I'm also interested in the Ebay thing, so any tips would be appreciated. I was thinking more along of the lines of selling loosely though. I don't think the store is the route for me. I was going to go with flea market type stuff and decorative stuff. Do you think I have a chance at making any money?

Since January I have made about 1200 dollars on eBay, and am poised to do about 800 more this month. Then again, I am downshifting and most of it comes from the crap I applied the 80/20 principle to. I am getting rid of everything but the 20% of things I used 80% of the time. I think the fleamarket route can work, but your really need to know about a few niches and hope the product is there. I know about videogames, as well as some different toys. For instance, my girlfriend made fun of me for buying a Nerf Ballzooka at Goodwill for 2 bucks, which I turned around and sold for 35 bucks on ebay. Not a ton of money, but an astounding ROI.
