Default atleast $1000 a month

I was wondering if anyone here has made at least $1000 a month from ads/adsense/affiliate programs.

I mention specifically $1000 because thats how much I was making a month at my previous job as a Java/C/C++ programmer (no health benefits, stock options,...etc either).

Currently, I am out of a job (quit because of the lousy salary) and find it difficult to get another job since I still lack the 5-10 years experience most job recruiters are looking for (graduated Spring 2007). I've been interested in creating a website for quite some time and have had experience with html/dhtml since high school (back when geocities and angelfire were popular).

Right now I'm working on a website, programming in php/html/dhtml/css/js, and hoping to make at least $1000 a month, even more.

I'm curious how many people on these forums make at least $1000 through advertising? And how long did it take to make that much?

yes gold,
I do,

And may I give you a sort of a small advise?
(I truly hope you'll take it like that)
The right question should be,
"Tell me, How can I earn 1000$/m?"
People are earning money on the Internet,
and I truly hope you'll earn too.

You should investigate every option you feel
connected to,
Nobody can tell you if you'll succeed in Affiliate marketing,
or Adsense, you will know after checking with yourself.

The path is not easy, but it certainly worth it,
All the best to you!

If you need any help do not hesitate to ask, you can also PM me.

Were you any good at programming and are you interested in it?

If yes, then you would be better off (at least initially) getting freelancing work as a programmer. There are plenty of websites out there which can help you connect with someone who needs to get a bit of programming done.

And don't set yourself up to fail. If you make only $500 or $200/month how is that? How about if you concentrate on making your first five bucks online first? Shoot for the stars and you might make the moon (or the stars...) but get set to launch your rocket first.

Default Warrior Forum Resources

Hi Goldtoe360,

you may want to check out the Warrior forum (The Warrior Forum) for some more info. That's a board for internet marketers.

Also, if you go to the various freelance sites (elance.com, rentacoder.com etc. -- I think those are the URLs), you'll be able to make some money with your skills and build up a clientele. You can get specific advice on the Warrior Forum re where to look, and you might find some clients right there.

Good luck.

Elisabeth

Thanks for the advice. I agree with you, the only way to see if affiliates/adsense will work for me is if I try it myself.

I'd say I was a pretty good programmer, given the fact that I'm an electrical engineer. Was I interested in it? Not exactly. My boss wanted me to create 2 graphic user interfaces for him then he would put me on an electrical engineering (hardware) project, which is what I applied for. After creating 4/5 graphic user interfaces (projects), and 4 months pass by, it didn't look like my boss had any plans on committing on what we had agreed. So I left.

I've been to those websites you mentioned, but it didn't really appeal to me. I think the way it works is that clients will post projects and programmers will bid on how much they think the job is worth. This usually ends up with programmers underbidding each other.

Buddy

Good advice as well. I should probably set my goals lower and gradually move up.

You can do it but it takes TIME which isn't in your favor. The internet is only going to get bigger as our children become adults.

If you are a good programmer, you can try freelancing - see GetAFreelancer, or RentACoder or Guru or this list of 147 freelance boards

Regarding making money from advertising on your existing sites - yes it's possible to do this but it depends on traffic, lots of it.

Basically with Google Adsense, the click-throughs are usually only about 0.5% of your traffic. So in order to make money you really need to pull in the readers. Most of the high traffic blogs are celebrity sites, porn blogs (note I'm not recommending this, just making an observation!), tech/gadget sites or sites like Steve Pavlians which has specialist content. You'll need to work hard at building the traffic - if you can do this then yes, you can make money.

I make around $3500+ online a month with various projects.

Since you're a programmer you should provide your service at elance for now for back up cash since you're out of a job ...

Well, I'm trying to get experience working with hardware design (PCB layout, circuit design, FPGA/DSP programming);but, I don't have enough experience with that to land a job. Right now I'm programming in PHP, CSS, html/dhtml (just for fun) and it's not bad.

I want to try out working as a freelance programmer, but not sure how good it is. Does anyone have any experience working as a freelance programmer from: elance, rentacoder, guru,...etc?
