Default What exactly is specialized knowledge?

Ever since hearing the word, I have always wondered exactly what it really means? Is it simply developing a skill that the world needs? like a lawyer, doctor, mathematician, engineer? Can you call a good ability to draw or paint specialized knowledge? And can you ever really become rich if you dont have specialized knowledge?

Specialized knowledge is "field speciffic".
For example: The inner workings of a Cummings Diesel engine would not be useful for a plastic surgeon, but is critical for a diesel truck mechanic. The grading system for gems is not useful for a plastic surgeon, but critical for a diamond merchant, etc.

Yes, you can become rich without specialized knowledge, but it is much easier to make money at something you know.
