Default My Website - what am I doing wrong?

My website Fatechooser has about 1,5 months now. I'd like to know what I'm doing wrong. Not that there are any problems, I think I'm doing pretty fine.
I'm just curious about what do you dislike in my website. I'd really appreciate if you take a look

Thanks in advance
Ralph

A few things that stuck out for me:
- the layout doesn't work properly in FireFox
- your search button says 'Szukaj' instead of 'Search'. Maybe this is intentional, but it seems a bit odd given that the rest of your site is English

I see you got google adsense. Make a 250x250 ad within the content like Steve to have a higher clickthru rate instead of siding an adsense on the side bar.

The text is kinda too light, it's hard on the eyes. I'm sure readers would appreciate it if you made the text darker.

Other then that, keep it up.

Switch to a blog if you want to write about yourself.

Your visitors are looking for something.

What do I search for in Google to find your site?

Two things jumped out at me were the mention that the traffic is very low which inadvertently admits that it might not be worth being at the site at all.

Also, never never use 'click here' for links. You want people to see the topic you have a link to as soon as possible.

I think it lacks content and seems empty.

It has a blog layout, so users are going to expect blog content.

Design could be improved upon too.

Hi Ralph,

I think it's great what you're doing at such a young age. I have alot of similar interests <and don't like the dentist either>. I only have one comment about your site. I wanted to write a comment to send you this message but I didn't know how. Instead I came to this forum to drop you a line.

To your success,

Honestly, the site is the product of ready, fire, aim approach. I can't expect to have money from it. However, I'm gaining experience that couldn't have been gained otherwise.
The site is just bound to look empty for another few months as I don't want to write articles without fuller grasp of the topic and I've been into personal development for not too long.

Once again, thanks for all feedback

The logo "Site Build It! E-Business Success" on the upper left is broken for me. It shows, but there is a blur line in the middle as if I have some pixels messed up on my screen (I don't). I use IE 7.

I also question the usage of that on the top site. When people first come onto your site they view "Fate chooser", then the next big item to attract them is "Site Build It! E-Business Success".

Thus, they immediately associate your site with you wanting e-business success and/or you trying to get them to buy something. Not a bad thing, but if that's not what you want to potray, it may be better not to have the logo there.

Not to mention, if I understand what I'm learning through SBI! correctly, you want to build trust and provide value before you try to sell people on stuff.

But then I'm just a newbie at this e-business stuff, so my advice is purely from a consumer viewpoint with an interest in business

Forgive me but I think your site is too raw to view. Besides, I cannot imagine a 17-year old young man discussing about personal development, when even your personality has not been developed yet.

Sorry, son but I think you can make it better if you talk about a topic that suits for your age. I am sure you can, all you need to do is to be creative and do not hurry up to grow old.

Enjoy life one day at a time.

There is nothing to forgive

You're perfectly right about me being inexperienced.

However, I learned through this site more then I would in a year without it. There's no way I could stop.
As for topics that suit my age, it depends on which age you mean. I feel older by far spiritually and intellectually then my parents are.

In that case, let me give me some reminders:

Blogging is not only sharing, it is also educating. Experience is the best teacher.

Sometimes, we cannot trust our feelings because it may change anytime or all the time.

Learning is endless and an everyday life activity.

If you want to convince many people to use something, use it first.

I am not insisting you to stop if you do not want to. I am only sharing what I have learned and still learning about.

My blogs are about marriage, parenting and blogging. This is because I am happily married for 12 years, a father of 2 and obviously a blogger.

I feel like an "old soul" as well, but I'm sure many of us do. Still, no matter how old you are spiritually, there are certain things that specific age groups deal with that others don't. For instance, a 17 year old (at least in the U.S.) would probably be about to finish high school, perhaps thinking about where they want to live after they move out of their parent's house, trying to get a job, learning how to handle money, learning how to create a fulfilling social life, learning how to date... etc.
These are just a few examples of what might be on the minds of young people. However, if you want your audience to be older than you, than you must write to suit their needs.
But this will be difficult. That only really works if you are a real authority on a subject. It does not sound like you are an "authority" on Personal Development yet. You may become an expert one day if you continue learning and applying what you learn, but right now you might want to write about a subject that you already know a lot about. There are at least one or 2 things that you know a lot about, perhaps expert level.
Write about what you know.

I'm an expert in some multiplayer game. I WANT to be an expert in personal development. So I use my expert side to run an internet business connected to that game and I run a site about personal development to accelerate my learning. What do you think about such strategy?
