Thumbs up Build A Niche Store (BANS)

Does anyone have experience with using Build A Niche Store a.K.a. BANS? If you currently have a BANS website, how much money have you made from it so far? Would you recommend BANS to others? I am interested in starting up a BANS website and have been reading affiliate marketing blogs that talk more in-depth about BANS. Any responses are appreciated!

The acronym is a bit unfortunate, read 'banned' a first . Anyway, it seems interesting idea! Will definitely follow this thread.

I looked at the BANS website and think it is mostly going to make money for the people associated with selling BANS. I've seen other companies extolling the virtues of earning significant money from eBay in a similar manner and would not be interested trying it myself.

If anyone has a different opinion or a personal experience with this I would enjoy reading about that experience.

Hello Gene,

Thanks for sharing your opinion. I am actually going to give BANS a shot fairly soon, I was just hoping that some fellow Pavlina forum members tried BANS and would share their experience. I've been following several affiliate-related blogs and they all claim that BANS is one of the best online investments they've ever made. I will end up blogging about my experience and reporting back to this thread with my results. I am waiting for version 3.0 to be released and I'm going to try it out.

Thanks again,

Andrew

i have and do use it, since version 1.0. i think you are better off investing in something like phpbay pro which works with wordpress to incorporate seamlessly with your content. i feel the majority of BANS stores DO NOT make money (read their forums), however if you have an existing site with lots of content and a need for an actual store to coincide, it could do well for you. i just don't recommend it for an out of the box stand alone website. i have one site that makes a decent amount of money with BANS, but i actually bring in more money using phpbay pro on that same site because it's integrated with my content. i make even more than the two combined by direct emails using my ebay affiliate link (which is free).

i agree with the above poster that said that the people making money are the ones selling the product.

Hey Beel, very interesting results and thanks for sharing your experience. I had not heard about phpbay prior to you sharing it here. I will definitely check into it more. I would read the BANS forums, but I am not a member due to the fact that I have not ordered a "BANS" yet.

A couple sites I follow are affiliateconfession.com, jtpratt.com, and ericmitz.com. It could be that most of the people who are making money are selling the product...

Anyways, thanks for sharing your 2 cents on the topic

Let me know what you think of the affiliate sites that I've included.

Thanks,

Andrew

I have heard BANS praised, but only for the quality of their advertising not for actual performance.

Speaking as someone who has an actual niche business, i.e., producing a niche product, I still can't work out if operations like BANS offer any value to the market or not.

hi andrew,
well, let me give you a brief rundown of the forums - hundreds of people desperately wanting to know how to make it work and make money and a handful claiming to make money but not sharing how. it really comes down to finding a profitable niche, but that can be said with or without BANS. before taking the plunge and buying BANS, i would suggest you test the ebay affiliate program (which is free and has several tools, check out eBay Affiliate Program - Create campaigns with powerful affiliate tools ) on your site and see what kind of money can be made from your niche with ebay sales. i'm going to check out the links you provided now.

Hey Beel,

I definitely understand that there are hundreds of people wanting to know how to make money online, yet I don't think they ever put in the necessary work or receive the proper instruction. At some point, you have to take the plunge -- you'll never learn by sitting on the sidelines... At the same time, it is much easier to make money online w/ the proper teacher / mentor than it is starting from scratch! I'll try out your suggestion of a campaign on my site for awhile and see how it goes!

What did you think of the links that I've provided?

Im interested in trying bans also. Trying to learn all I can about the program and how to promote your site before I dive in. I think that developing your own site is the best way to make money.

My new business partner and I looked into it, and while the idea for such a thing is not bad, weweren't really that impressed overall. I guess the main reason for that is that BANS seems to be yet another 'program' to make money online, and people don't tend to make a lot of money from 'programs' People make money from being creative and coming up with great ideas, and then working their butts off until they succeed. Granted, the BANS thing does allow you to be creative and work hard and do that, but it's still a "make money online" program, and I'm generally skeptical of those (I guess part of the reason for that comes from wasting so much time on MLM and similar dead end business models over the years).

Personally, I'm going with SiteBuildIt, working a business model I came up with all on my own (well, almost ). And SiteBuildIt is just to save time and learn, really.

I'm sure that if you do have a great idea for a BANS business, though, you can probably do very well indeed.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Tim. Like you said if you have a great idea for a BANS, you can probably do very well. It really comes down to 1) What you sell and 2) Amount of promotion. If you do a good job with those 2 steps, you should be making money. Much easier said than done of course

While I agree with much of what Tim has said, I have to disagree with his "program" comment. I bought a system that expanded on what I had been doing already and it really made a difference in my passive income and the amount of work I had to do. But I did work my butt off before getting the system. That said, I think even a noob could work the system with a little effort.
