Marketing an actor/comedian
I want to know everything there is to know about marketing on the internet as it pertains to making myself a household name. Actually, I'd like to know the most effective way, internet or not.

You could make some funny YouTube videos and put them on a blog of you doing a routine or being funny. A good, comedic video has potential to take the web by storm and spread virally across the net.
I definitely recommend you record some vids and use social networking sites like StumbleUpon to help you promote. Most social networking users love to see funny vids.
Good luck with your endeavor!

The internet is a lot about the long tail.
That said, I would also recommand funny youtube videos as an excellent method of marketing.

The hard way of becoming a household name is actually becoming very good at what you do. That is what makes you the next Peter Gabriel or Johny Depp. You provide the substance and let others do the marketing for you...
The second approach takes longer, but it has certain benefits... like your career won't come crashing down once the next scandal draws attention away from you.
