Default Who Wants To Make Money? How Much Do You Want?

My main goal right now is to increase my income. I want to make lots. $1 million a year sounds about right. And I want to make it while having fun and being challenged in its own right time.

How about you? How much do you want to make? How will you make it?

Great goal ! good luck with that. Regarding money, my goal has lower figures than yours :

I want to make 1750 euros a month by working approximately 4 hours a day and not having a job.

It would be great if I could reach this goal within the next 2 years. When I reach it, I'll probably define a larger goal.

What do you need $1M/year for? Is it something that really inspires you to go to great lengths?

Great goal LikeTheRazor! I'm going for $10 million I plan on making it online off of my website. I have also been learning the ropes to affiliate marketing so I will probably incorporate some of that in order to achieve my goal.

I wish you the best of luck,

Andrew

The challenge alone probably won't motivate you enough. How about getting a few stronger motivation factors?

I wish I could put a lot of effort into getting rich just for the challenge, but I had to admit to myself that I'm more focused on direct rewards. I have specific ideas on how I could cover my basic expenses and spend about $3 million on things that are fun, but anything more than that would be pointless. I do have a passion for business though, so who knows - maybe I'll get more than I know what to do with

If you can follow one goal singlemindedly for years or decades just for the challenge, that's an admirable trait.

I just want to save up around $5000-$6000 as soon as possible so I can move out of state and start my life.

Start your life now, this very moment and as you live your life pursue the goal of making money and moving out of state if that is a goal.

^I want to make as much as I can possibly make... but I'm hesitant to give you an exact figure, because I feel like that might jinx my success by putting a cap on how much I could've made.

(It's like I'm afraid that if I say I want to make $150,000 a year, 'the gods' will hear me and curse me, cutting me off at $150 when I could've been making $1 million.) haha.

I don't know. I don't want to underestimate myself, but I don't want to overestimate and have people laugh at me. (...so I'll just keep it to myself... )

(oh, and in response to the second part of your question: how do you plan on making it...?? )

Amanda, half the fun of goals is reaching them and not stopping I see it as a series of steps - ultimately I want to make a lot of money, but for the first six months of this year I'm trying to get a consistent income of $4000/month from my freelance work. I may actually do that in the next couple of months, in which case I can decide if I want to continue improving it or put more effort into other things. That will be enough to improve my financial situation so I can use some of my cashflow and time to build up side businesses - and there's where the real money will come from. As you can see I'm not limited in any way by such a "small" goal.

If a goal feels too small for you, set a shorter time for it to make it a real challenge. After all every goal should have a definite time period (other than "in my lifetime") or you could have decades before you even need to start. Even worse, you could suddenly reach your goal in the last month of your life and never get to enjoy it. Just move up the schedule a bit to reach it sooner and you'll be able to move on to bigger things sooner.

To rephrase the old quote, if you want to go on a journey of a thousand miles then an excellent goal to set for yourself is to take the first step

I definitely agree with 1000feet here Amanda! "Half the fun of goals is reaching them and not stopping!" Don't be afraid to set your goals high! Just know that if you do set the bar very high, you will definitely need to work harder and take the necessary steps to achieve your goal! Plan out your goal, but NEVER be afraid to 'dive in' and begin working to achieve that goal!

Good luck Amanda,

Andrew

Thanks for the advice, boys.

(I was originally thinking in terms of annual income, but I guess I could set smaller goals, like monthly targets... ? That seems like a good idea. )

I want to establish an income stream that is not location dependent, then spend some time traveling with my family like gypsies. Visiting national forests, touring the country, that sort of thing. During this time, I want to find some property. I haven't worked out the exact amount I need, but generally the more the better. On this property I want to set up some kind of college or commune or business or combination of the three. An innovative communal living arrangement with a small environmental footprint and locally produced food focused around a lucrative business model. So I don't know how much money I want to make, but enough to do that.

Well, I admit that I have other factors that motivate me. But truly, the challenge is the most motivating of all of them. I feel that going for a goal like that is an incredible growth experience. It's not about actually reaching $1 million, but about setting out to achieve it and seeing what happens...whether I reach it or not, the process is going to be incredible.

Cool . I would start talking about how much I'm making right now...but that seems to be a bit of a taboo subject. OK, I'll throw caution to the wind: currently 48k/year. I would like to slowly and surely move that number higher and higher.

I have had people laugh at me all my life for my ambition. They stop laughing once you actually achieve what you said you were going to do and they get this "I'm feeling a bit stupid right now." look on their face. It's quite fantastic and well worth it .

There are three main ways I plan to make it right now:

1) Money management business

2) Personal investments

3) Online business of some sort (blog/articles like Steve's but on different subjects, eBooks, etc.)

Count me in. My goal is to earn $1 million this year. I focus on contributing $1million of value to others, and in return I'll receieve $1 million.

I am bettering myself everyday to assure my success. I hope you guys also reach your goal of $1 million/$10 million. Keep me informed of your successes.

I'm in.

Short term goal(6 months): 1k per week in hand income through online business.

Medium term goal(12months-18months): 3k per week

Long term goal (18-36months): ~10k+ per week

How?
At the moment, selling Ebay items has got most of my time.
I'm also learning affiliate marketing which I will aim to use to reach up to medium term goals at the very least.
A personal business start-up will be required to achieve long term goals.

Current income: $200 per week. (I'm a student, so give me a break :P)
