Default Stuck on foundation

I have an idea of building a web site [or two] and have some basic knowledge
about how it's done. I'm a painter and have an aesthethic view of it and all but the problem is I only have that in my mind and don't have the real knowledge to create that site. Could someone give me advice on where and how to start because i tried finding something on the net and somewhere it was said to learn HTML after that someone other said "no no you don't need that, it's easier to get dreamweaver" .. ok I have dreamweaver and when
typed "how to build a blog with dreamweaver" I found a tutorial on the site of
adobe and there were lots of things that I didn't even know they existed and
that you need them to build your site[like mysql server, php program,..]
and what the the heck is RSS? why do I need that for my site..I never clicked
on that thing on other sites. Please help me out and try giving me some
easy steps to create my site because i'm good at design and writing but
the middle connection between the two is missing here . Thnks

Smile This might help some...

I created my first website early with year using frontpage, prior to that I did not know or care what html or dreamweaver was. In the last few months I have learned so much that I feel confident that I can help you get started at least.

From what I understand you are trying to build a blog (a blog is different from a site) if you are just starting out you need to be very clear on what you need.

You can have a website with a blog, you can have a website without a blog (blogging from what I understand seems to be the future and you will need it as an interactive tool with your visitors.) Or you can just have a blog - If you have a blog as an artist you can feature your work, write about it and people can comment on your work or your writings.

Tell me which you want to do, what you expect to get from your site, blog or both and then I can help you find a starting point.

I have to say if you are willing to learn the technical part of building a site/blog then I you will find a lot of help on line. If you do not want to know anything about the tech part of this then I would say you need to hire someone to do it for you.

I check this forum frequently, let me know when you want to start, I can at least take you part of the way and then turn you over to the experts.

Cheers

PS
I just learned how to create a blog for my site this month, it took time and patience and help from someone on a forum but I figured it out and I am still learning so much more. I can show you exactly how I did it and tell you what I would do differently.

A bit of html is not hard to learn. The problem with using essentially softwares it that you become dependent on them and they are never fully customizable, meaning there's always something you want to do but that you can't do.

Julien, you are right, I use wordpress and finding a theme that has everything you need is almost, if not impossible, but you can make the best of what you have.

Cool

Well I want it to be a site that has a blog but I plan to put most of my efforts in writting the articles of the blog. I am not going to put any artwork of mine in it. I have an idea how I want it to look like but don't have an idea how to do that. I've thought of a simple and attractive design so any help at
acomplishing it is welcome. TabsI'm willing to learn and would be very thankful if you help me do what I need to build my site.

I think it's not going to be a proper thing to
discuss the details here so check your inbox for private messages.
